Simple Setup, Flexible Controls, and a Solid Addition to a Hue Setup
Setting up this Hue Smart Button was quick and straightforward. I was able to link it to the exact lights I wanted it to control without any hassle, and it’s been working reliably ever since. My usage is pretty simple, but after seeing how flexible the configuration options are, I’m considering picking up additional switches for other areas. The adhesive on the back of the wall plate sticks well, and it’s held firmly in place since the day I mounted it. Some reviewers have mentioned concerns about the magnet strength, and while it isn’t especially strong, it’s perfectly adequate for my setup. The area where I installed the switch doesn’t get a lot of traffic, and I’ve been able to use it normally without the remote coming loose. Overall, it’s a clean, easy‑to‑use addition to a Hue system with enough customization options to grow into over time.

turns the (smart) lights on, no tinkering required
Works out of the box for the thing you want it for, which is turning lights on and off without losing Hue connectivity or having to open an app. Supposedly it can be programed to control other things via third party tools like Homekit, but I'm not messing with that; this thing allows my household to turn the lights on the old fashioned way, while still letting us have them set to a schedule, automations, fun colors, etc. I looked around for other cheaper solutions, but they were all a lot more work; this one is worth the $30ish bucks for ease of use alone. Unless you're a serious smart home tinkerer, save yourself the frustration and go for this one.

Transform Your Lighting with Philips Hue Wireless Dimmer Switches!
These Philips Hue wireless dimmer switches are an absolute game-changer! Seriously, I'm kicking myself for not getting them sooner. If you're looking for an incredibly easy and convenient way to control your Philips Hue lights, look no further. Effortless Installation Forget about tools, drilling, or messy wires. Installation is unbelievably simple: just peel off the adhesive backing and stick them wherever you need them. A quick wipe of the surface with rubbing alcohol beforehand ensures a super strong bond. It's truly a no-fuss, no-muss setup. Quick and Easy Setup Configuring these switches is just as straightforward. My first one took about five to ten minutes to get set up, but after that, each subsequent switch was a breeze—literally about a minute per switch. They work beautifully right out of the box. Remote Control and Magnetic Convenience One of the coolest features? These switches aren't just for your wall! You can easily remove the switch from its base and use it as a portable remote. And here's the best part: the back of the switch is magnetic! Stick it to your headboard, a metal nightstand, or any other metal surface within reach. When you're done, simply pop it back onto its wall mount. It's incredibly versatile and convenient. I'm truly impressed with these switches and the entire Philips Hue ecosystem. The ease of use, simple installation, and clever features like the magnetic remote truly set them apart. If you're considering enhancing your smart lighting setup, these wireless dimmer switches are a must-have!

Improved but magnet change from base to remote will take some getting used to
I've been a VERY happy owner of the 1st version of this device. I keep it on my refrigerator to control all of the lights in the kitchen. This is due to the fact that the wall switch is in an inconvenient location. When I saw this new version I thought I would update. And while the addition of having a dedicated button for light themes, the omission of dedicated magnets on the base mean that you cannot simply put this new version on a steel surface. To get the same functionality, you would have to remove the base, then the magnets on the remote will work fine. Nice and strong. Caveat, the remote on the old original version was not magnetic and so the base was required. While this post no problem for me as I prefer to have the base remain where it was, the new version allows you to discard the base entirely and simply place the remote on whatever steel structure you have. The benefit there, is a smaller footprint for the switch. I still prefer to have the magnets on the base and be able to pull the remote off, but that is a personal preference. The old switch and base were thicker quality plastic, glossy. The new is matte finish and feels thin and flimsy, but I'm sure that's to allow the magnets in the remote to get through to whatever steel surface you may be using. It's a small detail but that just means that I would either have to store the cheap, flimsy, plastic base somewhere or discard it and hope I don't need it in the future. But for those who are using the adhesives on the back to stick on a wall, this is a non-issue for you. The integration was incredibly quick. When I opened the Alexa app on my phone, it had already detected the new device and asked me to configure. The process was quick and painless, select the group, room, or lights and rename. That was it. All in all this is a solid update, I just would prefer that the base was not so light, flimsy, and cheap. All in all, a great quality product and one that I definitely recommend. If Amazon allowed I would give it 4.5 Stars out of 5.

Love the scene cycle button
This has been great to control the lights in my bedroom without having to always open my phone to turn them on/off. It has been responsive, and I think my favorite feature is that you can set the Hue button on the switch to cycle through different preset scenes. It was easy to connect to my lights/Hue hub, and the 3M tape on the back made it very easy to install.

Convenient for Setting up One Touch, Variable Lights for a Room or Zone
My home project earlier this year was converting a lot of my home lights to Smart lighting. For a while these were backordered and I had the simple one push smart buttons but mostly because I just couldn't access these. I wish I had started with these! I was able to obtain three of them. The plate was easy to install and looks nice with the existing hardware for a 2000s constructed house. It involves just screwing in a base plate and snapping on the top plate. The remote easily attaches with the magnet to the base and is very portable, attaches strongly to stay put but isn't so strong you have to wrench the remote off. Sometimes in the dark I have flailed at it and knocked it out of the groove but that's pretty infrequent. The settings are interesting - the top button can be set to either be a specific single brightness for a room/zone/set of lights, dimmer works well but is a bit slow in speed. HUE switches between a set of up to five scenes that you can program for the zone or room. I have my home exit switch which is in my 'mud room area' set to 'turn off all lights after holding for three seconds' and this easily lets me shut off all lights in my house on my way out. The HUE button is what's most convenient for my uses, because of all my rooms my bedroom has eleven separate lights (in a variety of towers, nightstand, accent lights, and torch). There are some times I just want to turn on a few lights when I'm zipping in to grab something and don't want every single light on. The 'power' top switch I have set to a nice incandescent color. For the scenes, I set the first one as a limited scene with just one tower and the torch so I get enough light to see by but don't have to turn on every single light. Multiple presses then go into my favorite four scenes afterwards. In essence this is a like a two button 'on' switch where I can use the Hue to get to a more efficient pattern, all from one single switch site. I have these also set up for my living room, where power is the full shebang and then HUE is only a overhead light over my computing desk - which makes it super convenient to use one single switch site to control multiple looks of lights. It's so easy to swap things around once you have the switches in place. So far so good!

Good Quality and Stable Functionality
I have about 6 years of experience with home automation and Philips Hue products, and this Hue Smart Dimmer (v2) stays in one of the best of my home automation gadgets like the title states. In the very beginning, I was hesitate to purchase this v2 dimmer from hue product line, as it has round corner and has the dimmer up and down button on actually one physical button which differs from the v1 hue dimmer, which I have been used it for many years and liked it so much. But since last year, one of my v1 dimmer became unstable connecting to my home assistant hub, I started to consider to buy a new one, and since then, the v1 dimmer was already difficult to find on market and thus after waited for a year, eventually decided to go with v2. First of all, v2 dimmer (this one) has the same amount of buttons, but different labels, as the top button has changed to be ON/OFF rather than v1's ON only. This led to the bottom bottom to be customizable. You can configure it on your phone app to be a scene-change button or others. This v2 dimmer works smoothly with my home assistant (HA) green (I have hue bridge as well, but switched to use HA one year ago), I would highly confirm that it works so good and smooth with HA and so customizable). So that, if you are an HA user, go for it, won't regret. The attached picture shows what actions/automations I added for the dimmer in HA, I left the bottom "Hue" button unused for future.

Handy switch and a nice improvement over the original
I have used Hue lights for many years, and I also own several smart home products from other brands. I'm primarily a HomeKit user, so my review will come from that perspective, although this is irrelevant to the typical use case for a switch like this. I previously resisted buying this refreshed version of the original Hue Dimmer Switch, as the way it works by default is a bit different from the original: • Instead of separate on and off switches, you now have a power toggle and a Hue button — the function of which may not seem obvious. • Instead of separate brighten/dim buttons, they are a single piece that works like a rocker. It turns out my concerns about the changes were nothing to worry about, as you can easily customize the functionality of these buttons within the Hue app, and you have a lot of flexibility in how you can set it up. I was pleased to discover that the design of this switch has been improved over the old version in several ways: • The switch surfaces fully extend to the sides (without a border around them), which means it's easier to press the top and bottom buttons while fumbling in the dark. There's also a helpful locator dot (like on the "F" and "J" keys on a keyboard to help you determine what the "On" button is. • The back is rounded subtly, making it easier to slide it into the included bracket. • There's a ridge on the back of the remote that slots into a groove on the bracket, which means it's pretty difficult to accidentally push the remote off the bracket when it's held in by the magnet. • The bracket now has proper holes so you can screw it onto a standard switch box — if you don't need to physically turn the power to the light off, you can (after turning the breaker off, please don't electrocute yourself) remove the original switch, use a wire nut to twist the wires together, and then screw the bracket over the outlet. No more concerns with your kids leaving the switch off! • As mentioned, the dim/brighten control is now a single panel, but there are still two buttons. So while it's harder to feel the difference between them in the dark, you don't lose functionality, and I suppose this makes the switch easier to wipe clean. • The battery compartment is much easier to access. The old design required loosening a tiny screw with a tiny screwdriver and carefully prying open a clip that would often break. This design uses a door that can be opened with any flat object, like a dime, table knife, or flathead screwdriver. If you like, you can still make the Hue button at the bottom behave like an off switch to work like a normal Decora switch, or you can make it trigger a different set of scenes. Or both at the same time, which works better than you'd think! You can also make either button cycle through scenes. Unfortunately, the functionality of the dim buttons is more limited within the Hue app — I don't know why they don't just let you trigger scenes with these buttons if you want. The typical way of configuring this switch within the Hue app is probably going to be the most reliable way to offer control of Hue lights, but if you need more abilities, you can also configure this in third-party apps, like Apple Home. If you do this, the switch works in a slightly different way, where you get four dedicated buttons that can essentially run automations or trigger scenes, and I've found this to be flexible, although it doesn't offer 1:1 functionality compared to the Hue app. For example, in Hue you can cycle through up to five scenes by pressing a button multiple times, but I couldn't find a way to do this in Home. I was worried that controlling this switch through Home would not be as reliable as controlling it with the Hue app, but it has mostly been fine, and I haven't noticed significant delays in turning lights on with this setup. Doing this confers the huge benefit that you can control nearly anything in your home, and you're not limited to just Hue products. So I can turn on my Govee Lamps, star projector, etc., all with one button. If you're creative and willing to tinker, you can probably do quite a lot by configuring the buttons to run automations and combinations of scenes. Overall, I'm very happy with the Hue Smart Dimmer Switch and find it a really useful addition to my smart home.
