Fell Short
I’m going to preface this by saying that N.R. Walker is one of my very favorite authors. I’ve read On Davis Row so many times. But this one didn’t work for me. It wasn’t the Master/sub aspect. I’ve read many books in this genre. The Master series by Kate Aaron? So good. And I’ve edited books in this genre. This story had potential. The history, the traditions, the rules. I think, for me, it fell short in character development, plot development, and credibility. Levin was just too perfect. If there had been conflict between first sub and second sub in terms of jealousy with Sig trying to navigate those waters as he adapted to owning two subs, it would have worked better and laid a stronger foundation for the eventual bond between Levin and Hunter. I kept waiting for a peak that never really happened other than Hunter feeling he did something wrong. This author is still a favorite for me. There are so many wonderful stories to choose from. However, this is a no for me.

So very very good!
This is a departure from what NR Walker usually writes..but not only is it an interesting story, it was written as wonderfully as any other NR Walker book! I was hooked from the first page & intrigued by this world she created! Even though it isn’t like her usual stories, from the very beginning, she brings you on this journey. You learn about this secret society deep in the Italian mountains that as you learn more, you find you like this world & these characters & you enjoy joining them as they grow together as Dom & Sub! You do also get the love story albeit a little different then norm, but every bit as beautiful. You get the HEA & you get the smut..omfg you get the most tantalizing, delicious & naughty smut..and lots of it!!! Even if the bdsm world isn’t something you enjoy, give this one a try anyways as it’s nothing too crazy or overly kinky. This Dom likes to use pleasure & orgasms(& bondage of course!) instead of pain so that should tell you the kind of yummy smut you’ll find in this book! I highly recommend it! :)

Hot-Hot D/s story
Founded over 400 years ago, the Sanctus Infinitus Redemptio has grown rich and powerful yet still remains secretive and strictly devoted to its founding principles that values submission and the responsibilities of dominants above all else. So, when one of the three grand masters, Dalton, notices signs that Hunter has been whipped, in direct violation of his hard limit, he wastes no time in recalling Hunter and his Dom, who is subjected to “retraining”. The problem then is what to do with Hunter, who desperately needs a proper Dom. For that, Dalton turns to Sig, who already has one sub, Lavin. Sig can't refuse to take care of Hunter, but what will it mean for his relationship with Lavin?“S.I.R.” is a rather different D/s story. Many of the common elements of these stories are present, such as a troubled sub and a perfect Dom. Only, Sig isn't quite perfect. He isn't the mind-reading Dom often protrayed, who knows his sub's every thought and need. In short, he's human, so while the premise of the story may seem a bit outlandish, the characters themselves are a bit more believable than you might expect.Based on previous books I've read by this author, I was expecting a slow burn, but this story turns up the heat within the first few pages and it's pretty much non-stop until the end. The kinky bits are pretty light, as the blurb promises. The book is more about D/s relationships and finding balance where many outsiders may see imbalance. The driving plot line is the need to ensure Hunter feels safe. Safe enough to reveal what is obviously a troubled past and start to think about what he wants, beyond pleasing his master. The other somewhat unusual aspect of this story is the menage relationship. While not rare, it's still uncommon to see such relationships portrayed, and always interesting to see how they're handled. In this respect, Lavin is a key character. It's easy to see why Sig would want to care for Hunter, but if his first sub doesn't bond with the new boy, then it's going to be a rocky relationship. Fortunately, Hunter's situation makes it seem quite natural that Lavin would want to take him under his wing and be just as protective of him as Sig.Owing to all the hotness, this is a rather quick read. The scenes and the emotional drama are enough to keep you reading to see what happens next. You have to suspend disbelief about the set-up, but that wasn't too hard given the believability of the characters themselves.

No loser in this game
The more I read from Mrs Walker, the more convinced I am that she can write virtually anything. Pure and simple. While most of her books have the same tendencies of timeframe, support person be it a psy or BFF, this one is different but still reflect her work. What happens when you put three people together that are actually both quite identical? Sig, Levin and Hunter seem to be cut from the same clots. Both in need for either dominance or submission, both so confident in their abilities to give that even though they doubt themselves sometime and both learning from each other. Even though it is written on Sig POV, Mrs Walker manage to spot in a way where we can definitely feel both Levi and Hunter desire, need, thoughts. The sex is off the charts and the play and games into the BDSM realm is epic. And in this game, there are no losers, even for the reader. I highly recommend it and it's a 5 stars for me.

If NR Walker writes it, I'll read it!
Loved this so much!I'm not a big fan of bdsm books, but if NR Walker writes it, I will read it! Take the first sentence in the blurb to heart- this is definitely bdsm light.Sir was a heartfelt story, so many more feels than I expected. Sig is wonderful with both Levin and Hunter, a strong, protective Dom who cares so much. My heart hurt for Hunter, for everything he'd been through in his young life- he was so sweet and darling and just wanted someone to show him they cared. Levin was a breath of fresh air- bringing fun and lightness into Hunter's life, and pushing Sig's buttons all at the same time. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the three of them.I don't know if Ms. Walker ever plans to revisit this world, but I would be on board if she did!

Not For Me
I have read most of Walker's books, so gave this one a go, despite really not being a fan of BDSM. Obviously it's each to their own & all that, but personally, just do not get the concept of BDSM - would never criticise or judge someone for it, but just don't get wanting to dominate someone nor wanting to be dominated by someone, let alone the inflicting pain aspect. Ho hum...So bearing that in mind, I gave this ago & yes, it's not badly written (as you'd get with a NR Walker book), it's just plain silly/daft. The idea of a Sanctum set up by a priest 400 years ago so he could do what he did with boys, just made my eyes roll and think of the less pleasant side of a certain religion that has had in the (recent) past a penchant for abuse. Then there was the whole control/submit/domination thing - it just makes me roll my eyes. - these 'boys' were treated like children in my eyes, it was just so silly...So all in all, this has just confirmed that this kind of book/genre is really not for me. Go read if it's your thing, but to me it was just all so very silly.

Just perfect
I’m a huge NR Walker fan, and I love a bit of kink with my coffee, so one-clicking this was a no-brainer. And it totally lived up to, and surpassed, all of my expectations. This book is so good. So good. The prologue timeline worried me, thought I was in for a historical, but no - just showing the origin story for the Sanctus. The story itself is between Sig, Dominant and great believer in the Sanctus, Levin, his insatiable and slightly cheeky sub, and Hunter, who really really needs someone he can trust to love him. All three are beautiful and beautifully-written personalities and following them through their first week was both wonderful and, in places, heart-rending. If hurt/comfort is your thing, you will get loads out of this, and if not then you’ll still love the relationship and interactions. As with all of Walker’s books, the quality extends to the other characters in the book so you really feel the full experience, not just an isolated threesome. I’m a particular fan of Ephraim and Louella, oh and Paul. You’ll meet them all.Might start rereading straight away. Thoroughly recommended.

Different take on the life
If you can take it all with a huge pinch of salt, then it's quite enjoyable. The relationship between them is uber sweet which I'm a fan of. I had unanswered questions like would a sub switch easily to a dom after years in the life, but it's not my world, so I have no idea.

Deludente

You won’t regret reading this
NR Walker and BDSM. Not a combination you’d expect but definitely a combination you need to read. ‘Nice’ Dom Sig and his sub Levin most definitely do not disappoint - a genuine connection you feel right from the start and not short on the heat factor either. Add in mistreated sub Hunter and the world spins for these three men. NR Walker owns this from start to end and whether she is a new to you author or you’ve read every book she’s ever released, this will not disappoint. Open your heart, let these three men in - you won’t regret it.
