Are these solid brass or plated?

All Mayhew Tools brass punches are solid brass.

Are these designed to double as slave pins? (aka drift pins or guide pins)

I use them to finalize my dust/wiper seal installation. To prevent damage of te seal. They are to soft for a drift pin, unless you use the biggest one in this set. If you want a Mathew Drift Punch buy the 61360 3 piece set or the 67003 5 piece set. Good luck
