Canned Louisiana Alligator Meat

Always wanted to try some alligator meat. The sauce tastes a lot like gumbo and the meat was pretty tender. Really tastes alot like chicken.

This has a wonderful flavor, and is, as they say, quite unique. I can't tell if the unusual flavor is the meat, or just the combination of spices. It doesn't matter too much to me.The problem is the cost. There was less than 1/2 meat, the rest being sauce. And it costs more than double what I normally eat for the meal, and what I normally eat will be good for two days, while this was good for only one day. I think the alligator they chose was a tough old bird; the meat was quite chewy. But not impossibly so. My jaw needs a workout now and then. But if I could get this for 1/3 of the cost, I would eat it often. It's that simple. As things stand, I will have to save it for special occasions. And the more alligators I eat and get off the planet, the better I like it! Turn about is fair play. I'd rather eat the alligator than have him eat me!4 stars because of the cost; otherwise it deserves 5.

Was great! Baught for decoration, was fun, everybody enjoyed it.

Based on the reviews I was seeing, I was expecting this to not be very good, but for what it is (canned gator in cajun gravy soup) it's pretty good. It's a bit expensive for such a small can, but it is what it is. The taste reminds me of what a cajun Chef Boyardee would taste like. I will be ordering this again, but I'll probably wait until Mardi Gras.

Taste great, However I did not expect 7 oz. of gravy the meat in this can was less than the size of peas. Exceptional Cajun flavor. But if you are expecting to get Any meat you will be disappointed. All of the meat would have fit on a tea spoon one level with room to spare. Basically 7 oz. of Great flavored Cajun gravy water.

I recieved rattle snake meat instead, but it wasoriginally meant to be a Christmas gag gift. It still met the profile seamlessly.
