A book to make your therapist heart smile
Thank you, Mary, for authoring this book. I am still in my training hours and feel I am often learning everything the hard way in regards to therapy. This book was uplifting and inspiring. It got me out of a funk I was in. Your stories were relatable and educational, as well as humanizing. Many nuggets of therapist wisdom stood out to me. I appreciate this book beyond words!

Read if burning out!
This is a beautiful ode to therapy written with amazing wisdom. Renewing and inspiring balm to the senses to those of us who may be teetering on the verge of burn out.

A colleague recommended this book after she received it as a gift. The author’s approach was encouraging and normalized the wide range of feelings we feel as therapists. I read it as I was about to begin a new role and it helped me feel more self assured as I transitioned.

Disappointing! Therapist chatter about her mundane daily life written in the form of letters to a younger colleague in supervision. Can't avoid the question why she wrote it all up - Laura, the addressee, must be pitied!

to me, slushy, over sentimental and polly- annish.

LTaYT is a very accessibly written book and highlights some of the major underlying issues that a psychotherapist encounters in the context of working with clients. In my opinion this is also a great read for clients as well. The writing is simple, or should I say it doesn't get any simpler. An invaluable resource for a practicing psychotherapist as well as for the client. Highly recommended.
