Paul Mitchell Platinum Blonde Purple Shampoo: Effective Brass-Busting, But Consider Potential DrawbacksPaul Mitchell Platinum Blonde Purple Shampoo is a popular choice for neutralizing brassy tones in blonde hair. Here's a breakdown of its pros and cons to help you decide if it's the right purple shampoo for you:Pros:Effective Brass Reduction: Many users report this shampoo effectively combats brassiness and yellow tones in blonde, highlighted, or gray hair, leaving hair looking brighter and cooler-toned.Gentle Formula: The shampoo is generally considered gentle enough for regular use, unlike some harsher purple shampoos that can be drying.Color-Safe: It is formulated to be safe for color-treated hair, making it suitable for most blonde hair types.Pleasant Fragrance: Users often mention a pleasant and refreshing scent.Cons:Potential for Drying: While generally gentle, some users with dry hair experience dryness or increased frizz after using this shampoo. Deep conditioning is recommended to counteract this effect.Uneven Color Deposit: A few users report uneven color deposit, especially on hair with highlights or different blonde tones. A conditioning mask or consulting a hairstylist for application tips might help.Price: Compared to some drugstore purple shampoos, this product falls on the pricier side.Overall:Paul Mitchell Platinum Blonde Purple Shampoo is a well-regarded option for reducing brassiness and achieving cooler blonde tones. Its effectiveness, gentle formula, and pleasant fragrance are its strengths. However, the potential for drying, uneven color deposit, and higher price are noteworthy drawbacks to consider. Here are some additional points to keep in mind:Patch test before use: As with any new hair product, it's advisable to do a patch test to check for potential allergic reactions.Conditioning is key: To prevent dryness, follow up with a good quality conditioner after using this shampoo.Consider alternative application methods: Some users find applying the shampoo to wet hair, letting it sit for a shorter time, and then rinsing thoroughly helps achieve desired results without excessive drying. If you're looking for a powerful and effective purple shampoo to combat brassiness in your blonde hair, Paul Mitchell Platinum Blonde is a good option to consider.

good for grayish hair too!
I have white hair with darker gray highlights...it was recommended to lighten gray, and it is actually doing that although it's taking a while!!!

Blonde Purple Shampoo
Great Product! Keep my blonde nice and bright for almost 12 months. Take off the brassy and keep the true blonde. My mother uses Paul Mitchell since the 2000s and this is the best product for non color and color gals. only Con is this will stain your shower if u have white plastic tub, just be aware and rinse directly to the drain! ❤️

Platinum Noob, but you can't tell when I use this!!!!!!
The first time I bleached my hair, I used 5 pouches of Quick Blue and 2 bottles of 30 volume developer to cover all of my hair. It lightened to a very pale yellow and I used ManicPanic Virgin Snow as my first attempt at toner. I used about 3/4 of the tub this first time, and decided that overnight treatments for my hair were not practical. So, for maintenance, I'd purchased Clairol shimmer lights shampoo and an argan oil hair mask, and found if I left it in too long (10 min, apparently) my hair turned purple. Obviously, this was not what I planned, so I purchased this and Paul Mitchell Keractive Forever Blonde Conditioner from amazon.I use this product 2x per week (those are the only times I wash my hair, to prevent drying). I lather up my hair, leave it in for ~20 minutes (longer than the bottle recommends), condition my hair (I cycle conditioners, haven't found the right one yet) then style as normal. This shampoo was quite a bit more drying to my hair than the Shimmer Lights, but my hair can now maintain the white I'd imagined when I decided to go blonde. It helps my roots (I have naturally dark brown hair) be less obvious as they grow, and it helped to lighten things up the time I tried a different bleach on my roots and didn't get the roots quite as blonde as the rest of my hair. It made a much more consistent transition, and I will go back to my original bleach brand and never stray again.I recommend this product highly, especially for maintaining that white blonde. It will dry out the hair, so conditioner is a must after use. I'm nowhere near a hair professional, but this shampoo has helped me to DIY my platinum, and my hair is responding well. I read everything I could on the internet before I made my decision to bleach my hair, and dove in knowing it might go very badly. I am so happy to have products that have made the process easy for me, and that I still have all my hair. Good luck!

Okay product
I have used many purple shampoos and would expect better results with this brand. I found it to be mediocre at best. It also was very drying.

Can't go wrong with Paul Mitchell 💁🏼♀️
I saw this purple shampoo on a Brad Mondo video. He was comparing five different purple shampoos. According to Brad this one came smack dab in the middle. Of course his number one was a very expensive purple shampoo. I forget what the second was. Then this shampoo was his 3rd. He really didn't have a bad thing to say about it. It smells good which I agree. It was mild, yet worked good. I totally agree. For the price you can't go wrong with this one. I have never had a bad experience with any Paul Mitchell products so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. I use it once a week or once every two weeks. Depending on the tone your aiming for. I am TRYING to transition to my natural salt and pepper gray. This is making the tones more even. I do think I'm going to try the Jeff's Barbershop hair oil. I'm half Portuguese so I normally have dryer wavy/curly hair. So good healthy oils go a long way with my hair texture. I appreciate that this product doesn't completely dry out my hair like most purple shampoos have been known to do. I definitely recommend this Paul Mitchell Purple Shampoo.
