Indispensable tool
I only recently started learning to solder, and the janky holder that came with my soldering kit kept falling over. I saw that this one was highly rated, but wasn’t sure it was worth the extra cost. When I finally decided to replace my cheap soldering gun with a better one, I went ahead and added this stand onto my order. Wow! It totally changed the game. It’s very sturdy, with a heavy non-slip base, so I don’t have to worry about safety. My work process from tinning to cleaning to soldering is smooth and easy. The copper cleaning “sponge” works way better than a flat sponge, in my opinion. This is one of those tools I wasn’t sure I needed at first, but am SO glad I purchased now. Worth every penny.

Great, but came damaged.
Base is sturdy and heavy. Looks like it does in the picture. Even though my Pinecil sits loosely, it fits secure and I feel the end is safely covered. My only complaint is the brass wool holder came in a flimsy cardstock box, no cardboard insert or anything, and not even sealed any way. The box was totally smooshed, and there's a big dent right in the front part of the brass wool holder. Part of the blame is on Hakko for the poor packaging, and part is on Amazon for throwing it into a box with a much heavier item and like 2 air pillows that hardly stopped them from slamming into each other.

The best iron stand
Very strong & sturdy iron holder. It’s heavy. I havent been able to successfully knock it over unintentionally thankfully. It came with a sponge which was a nice bonus. My recommendation: The tip cleaning wire holder is a bit cheap. I would like to see the quality be improved even if it means increasing the products price. I would definitely buy a revision of the stand.

Sturdy stand
So far so good. I'm still getting used to using the brass wool rather than the sponge but I love the weight of the stand. It's very helpful and makes me feel a lot safer soldering.

Hakko is the gold standard in soldering gear.
After looking through endless lists of no-name Asian garbage, I finally found several Hakko products. I havealmost always used Hakko soldering stations for everything from building ham radio transceivers to computer add-ons. I had lost my iron holder in my last move & was happy to find a stand-alone. Sturdy enough not to move around my workbench like most of the no-names available here from China.

Works great - awesome little stand
Works as you would expect. The base is weighted so it is very sturdy. Very happy with my purchase.

Great solution for a Pine64 Pinecil Soldering Iron
I was looking for a quality soldering stand for my portable Pine64 Pinecil Soldering Iron (it fits perfectly and cannot fall through the holder). I wanted something that was weighted and ideally had a non-slip footing (it slips a little if the bottom is dusty, so it could be slightly improved with a rubber/silicone bottom instead of the foam pad) to use in an automotive wiring setting. The base is made of black powdercoated cast iron with a detatchable stand made of powdercoated steel of reasonable thickness with a thumb screw to securely lock it to the base. I store my entire portable soldering setup together in a DeWalt 10 bin sorting-stackable storage case including this Hakko FH-300 stand with the included 599B brass wool holder. The Hakko 599B brass wool soldering iron tip cleaner works great, but was very light weight item made from a brass anodized tin with x3 rubber non-slip feet. I had to exchange the my 1st order because the 599B was crushed like a soda can when I recieved it. The product packaging is not designed well for shipping as the 599B was in a flimsy cardboard box and the FH-300 was in a traditional plastic faced/cardboard backed packaging...(picture shows how my replacement arrived, the original item had a crushed green box). This was my only product complaint since I had to wait an extra week to get the replacement and put this stand to use.I modified my 599B brass wool holder to add a weighted magnetic base (x6 neodymium magnets in-between x3 3/4in. fender washers glued to the bottom with gorrilla glue) so that it doesn't move as easily and can stay in place when it's in use on the FH-300 stand or when the whole kit is stored inside my DeWalt storage case.I have been wanting to put together this portable soldering solution for a long time. Now, everything I need fits together nicely in one organized package. I use about 3-4 more of these DeWalt stackable storage bins to organize my other wiring materials/tools.
