Convenient and Reliable
I am pleasantly surprised by the convenience and reliability of the ENERLITES Electrical Replacement Plug & Connector Set. Recently, I accidentally ran over the connection on my extension cord, and replacing it with this set was remarkably straightforward. The set includes both male and female ends, which allowed me to quickly replace the damaged connector without needing to purchase separate components. The installation process was intuitive, thanks to clear instructions provided by ENERLITES. Within minutes, I had the new connector securely in place, restoring functionality to my extension cord. What impressed me most was the durability and quality of the replacement plugs and connectors. Despite the mishap, these components proved resilient and sturdy. The materials used feel robust, ensuring a secure fit and reliable electrical connection once installed. Additionally, the design of the connectors facilitated a hassle-free installation. The prongs aligned easily and inserted smoothly into the socket, eliminating the need for excessive force or adjustments. This user-friendly experience speaks to the thoughtful engineering of the ENERLITES set. Overall, I am highly satisfied with the ENERLITES Electrical Replacement Plug & Connector Set. It exceeded my expectations by providing a quick and effective solution to my damaged extension cord connection. If you're looking for reliable replacement plugs that are easy to install and built to last, I would definitely recommend considering ENERLITES. Five stars!

Work fine for an inexpensive repair
These work fine, but the metal connectors on the female side could be a bit better quality.

Take your time
Just installed the connectors on a 15' flat extension cord with bad ends. The process was routine, make sure you strip the ends just long enough to slide under the tabs and avoid exposed bare wires, tighten the screws then bend the wire back and forth about 3 times and tighten the screw again, repeat 2-3 times on all connections. If you don't do this the braided wire will loosen up on you. I forgot, when you strip the braided wire if you accidentally cut off a few strands, cut it off completely and do it again - yes it does matter when carrying maximum amps. The female connector is polarized so you want to match polarity and ground at both ends of the extension, this is very easy to do with color coded wires, but you may need an ohm meter to be sure with a cable like mine where all three conductors are the same color. I own several outlet testers so before putting a load on the renewed extension cord I plugged it into the wall outlet and plugged in an outlet tester ($6-$8) to the other end and it will show you got it right. One bad, the female end does not hold very tight so if you are going to use it by dragging it all over the place just tie the ends and you will be fine. I have some pictures I hope are found helpful.

Highest quality but careful with the screws!
This ENERLITES plug & receptacle are very well made, of highest quality. I purchased this pair to fix my son's extension code, which I inadvertently severed when cutting the grass. Now he has two very nice extension cords, one short and one long. On each connector there are 3 screws that fasten the faceplate to the body and 2 screws on the clamp around the insulated cable. On the plug, these 5 screws are very similar, but they are not interchangeable. Don't get them mixed up as I did. Any of them work on the faceplate, but only the correct ones work on the clamp.

Useable but far from perfect
I almost liked the price, but still seemed over priced. The Male Plug works pretty good! The Female Socket assembly has a molding error such that the two pieces do not line up correctly when reassembling. This can be corrected using a sharp tool to remove the offending blibbit. It is not a piece of flash left from molding. It's simply a mistake which should have been corrected long long ago. I tried ordering similar products from other brands, but they all have the exact same error and probably are all made by the same oriental plastic molding company. Other purchasers have indicated that wiring can be difficult and if you're old school and want to wrap the stripped conductor around the screw, they're right! The thickness of the copper conductor uses up the whole screw length with nary a thread left to engage plus its located in a tight area. Inserting the copper conductor along one side of the screw causes the U conductor clamp to tilt badly and seems to result in poor mechanical strength. Also, getting all the fine wire strands of the conductor to stay under the clamp while tightening is another tedious hurdle. My personal solution to control stray wire strands is wire tinning; ie twist the strands, add some flux and tin the wire with 60 / 40 solder to convert the stranded conductor to a solid conductor (which is what most electrical fixtures are designed to accommodate). To eliminate the clamp from tilting, in this particular case, I split the stranded conductor into two halves before tinning so it looked like a two prong fork. Finally, insert the tinned fork under the wire clamp with the screw in the middle and half the wire on each side. Now the clamp will screw down without tilting. If you want to get fancy, bend the tips of the fork 90 degrees like the way a wire crimp terminal is made to add mechanical pull strength. For this price, the job should have been easier, like you stick the stripped end of the wire into a hole and tighten a screw that's at a 90 degree angle to the wire and you're done! Maybe next year!
