Exciting reading based in Norse mythology
We have a challenge: My 7-1/2 y.o. granddaughter is just completing 1st grade, due to ridiculous birthday cut-offs where we live. She's way ahead in reading in her class and her teacher and Library teacher had run out of reading options for her, if you can believe that. So...I went looking and found this 4 volume set, based on Norse mythology, with female heroines. Age rated 8-12. Upon viewing the first book, my granddaughter fell in love with the cover - she simply loves cats and the graphics here are outstanding. She had 25 minutes prior to her first Zoom class and immediately started reading. There is a glossary in the back of the book, which I tagged for her, urging her to use it, when she comes to a word/noun that's new to her. Each book also starts out with a large tree, which acts as a map, if you will, which lays out what to expect in the book. Each book is a stand-alone book. Note: If your kids have had any exposure to the tv series "Stargate SG-1," specifically the Asgaard, they will recognized names and characters, as there is carry-over. Also, movies relative to Thor, as well. Days later and my granddaughter remains engaged with Book 1. Highly recommend.

Great series!
I found these to go with our Norse Mythology studies. They are wonderfully written to be relatable to tweens, while drawing parallels to the original stories. We read these aloud at night and my kids are always asking to keep going. All three of our kids, ages 11, 9, and 6 love these books and talk about them. They even use the characters from the books during play time to keep the stories going. If they were to come out with more books in this series, we would read them for sure! When we move on to Greek Mythology I wont hesitate to check out these authors’ other series Goddess Girls.
