Why buy synthetic lubricants w/PTFE
In this modern age there're ONLY a hand full of lubricants worthy of your consideration for just about anything that needs penetrating oil, a corrosion and rust inhibitor, does not attract dust and moisture, leaves a lubricating film when evaporated, does not turn to a varnish like mess when it dries, exceeds all other oils in temperature range use from -55F to 300+F degrees, and they are the synthetic oils. I'll mention three of the best and of the more common in this review. They are: Birchwood-Casey Gun Oil, Tri-flow, and Loctite's Super Lube with PTFE. When comparing synthetic oils and greases that contain (PTFE PolyTetraFluoroEthylene or Teflon) there is no comparison with the regular fossil, mineral, or vegetable all purpose oils because synthetic oils are much better by far. Yes, they're more expensive, but they'll out perform and out last ALL natural base oils. Synthetic oils are not the oils grandpah swore by, and as the knowledge he handed down generationally. All you have to do to believe that statement is to see what the pros use now for extreme environment conditions for guns, fishing, racing and other extreme sport's that require lubrication for their mechanical equipment, and then not having to worry about rust, corrosion, failure, and other nasty things when placed back into storage. Also, more and more companies are recommending synthetic oils with PTFE for their products such as 2,000 dollar deep sea reels and other high value equipment. They work great for a squeaky door hinge to 1,000+ dollar bicycles for the chain, sprockets, shift and brake lever cables because synthetic lubes are best, and they don't attract dirt and moisture, nor gum things up which would make smooth shifting difficult. These products also are made as a light grease too if you need a thicker viscosity that leans towards anti-thixotropic behavior. In many instances just a few drops or dabs is all that's needed. They're available in drop by drop bottles, pour bottles for personal needs, spray cans, and grease form in cans or squeeze tubes. If you believe that natural oils are better, then your head is in the 19th century. Not only do I recommend these products, I cannot emphasize their importance enough. Treat yourself to one of these synthetic oils with PTFE, and you'll never go back to grandpah's general purpose lube oils again, and that's a good thing because today's devices require better and tougher lubrication due to higher load conditions, temperature extremes, and the exotic metals used today.

I was skeptical but it's great for most applications!
Review form asked me to rate scent. Why are we rating lubricants on their aroma? Yeah, it has a smell bit it wares off. Wouldn't it be stupid if the manufacturer produced an inferior product to appease Amazon's stupid review metric? Yeah, I wouldn't want to wear it. It's about as relevant as asking about taste. Needless to say I rated the aroma 5 stars and recommend you do the same. Regarding the actual performance: I honestly wasn't expecting to be impressed after over saturating myself on all the positive reviews. I'm kind of a lube freak. I own an embarrassment of lubes of myriad varieties. Lately, I've been especially interested in lubricants containing PTFE. Wet & dry. Anyway, of the 5 or so in this class of lubes that I've purchased on Amazon (all 4.5 stars or more) I've found this to be the single best performing and most versatile. Of course, how they all hold up once after application remains to be seen. Only thing I prefer dry or film PTFE lubes for would be bike chains in arid/dusty conditions & locks, generally. Anything where dust & grime buildup is likely & would risk performance &/or is difficult/time consuming to remove. That said, this lube doesn't seem particularly prone to that kind of buildup & perhaps that's where the PTFE comes in. It's hard saying. So far, I've found it effective for door hinges, lubricating tap bits before tapping holes, for a hair clipper (dry lube probably not worth the risk & they're designed for frequent lubrication anyway so buildup isn't a concern), lubricating sand paper for polishing, lubricating sliding door & window tracks & oiling the ball bearing on an old fan (yes, that might attract dust but it's how it's done in the factory and I'm not inclined to experiment, at the moment). It's probably wasteful but I've used it to assist a spray catalyst on a rusted on brake rotor in a moment of desperation.

Great lube for bikes or anything you need a thin light oil for
I've been using Tri Flow for decades, I was a professional bike mechanic back in the day and this is what we used. Sadly my order from Amazon was lost and had to order through eBay

Moderate Priced Long Lasting Bike Chain Lubricant Been Using for More than A Dozen Years
My experience using this product is at least 12 years. I use it exclusively as a bike chain lubricant and am mor than happy with its performance. I thoroughly clean my chain with a solvent such as Super Clean, wash and dry the chain, then apply small dabs of the lube starting at the master link, moving the crank arm backwards while applying dabs and drops. Finish the process by holding the bike chain with a cloth and rotate backwards again, applying slight pressure to wipe off any excess lube. Repeat, holding the chain with the rag at a different angle to collect any secondary lube. Allow to dry for several hours, then ride. I ride in dry conditions generally and apply fresh lube when I clean the bike after 6 rides or 200 miles. The bottle lasts quite a while.

Best oil I have found for my road bicycles.
Very good chain and ring oil for my road bicycles. Been using this product for over a decade. Local bike shop turned me on to it. However the shop owner retired and the store is closed. Amazon is a blessing.

This item was listed as a bicycle lubricant but nowhere on the bottle is it so specified, and the directions for use do not mention either bicycles or chains, only "parts." The seller assures me there is no difference from their bicycle lube. It does appear to lubricate very well, putting on a greasy layer that stays on the chain over many rides. Compared to the wax type chain lubes I've used it's very messy if the chain has to be handled, as in putting it back on a chain ring. In general I believe that a lubricant formulated specifically for a specific use is superior to a general type lubricant for that use, but perhaps this one is an exception. As stated above, it's lubricating qualities for a bicycle chain seem excellent.

I had read it was better than other lubricants for using in car ignition systems and moving parts- in my case to help when a key is getting stuck--and Yes, it really works well and helps the key to slip into the barrel. I would recommend, very easy to use with ultra thin pipe fitting in the nozzle.
