Gripping storyline with brilliant twists
This is a great book full of deception, confusion and misdirection! I enjoyed the contemporary setting around a social influencer and another character coming to write her biography. The dynamics and plot were cleverly crafted. While at times I was wondering where the story was heading, it soon became clear and it wasn't at all what I expected! Definitely worth reading!

A Real Mystery and Page Turner!
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It was slow to start, but as the author kept dropping tidbits of juicy information it became more of a page turner. The slow character development added to the tension and there were a few intriguing dichotomies, like Olivia being such a desperately private person yet such a well-known public influencer. The novel is split into 3 distinct voices. The first, and largest part, is written in Nicky’s voice. Her frustration with Olivia’s reticence and reluctance to talk about her past, her sleuthing and the secrets she discovers, and the intriguing plot left me anxiously anticipating the twists and turns to be made. The second part is from Olivia’s point of view. She is desperate to keep the secrets of her past hidden and will do anything to ensure this.Part three is written from both Nicky and Olivia’s point of view. The twists exploded off the page! The diverse story lines, compelling characters and mysterious motives kept me turning the pages until the final, unexpected conclusion.

There are two sides to every story
Nicky is a financially strapped ghost-writer looking to make ends meet telling the stories in the guise of minor celebrities.Olivia is a married, mum of one, social media influencer living in her large family home in Cheshire looking to tell her story.Cross communication has meant that rather than boarding local to Olivia, Nicky is actually living and working in the family home. It soon becomes evident that Olivia's marriage is strained and that she doesn't seem to want to tell her story. Nicky starts to dig deeper and potentially oversteps the mark with her investigations when it's established there is a tragic past for the house and Olivia's family. Several twists and turns show there are definitely two sides to every story. This was our April Online Book club readalong, written in three parts from Nicky's and Olvia's POV which we read in two sections across a couple of weeks. Good strong characterisation with subtle hints that anyone skim-reading could potentially miss. Just when you think you have the ending there's a little twist that you just wouldn't expect.Really enjoyed this quick easy read - not too deep and kept my interest.

All Is Not What It Seems
I have to confess to having mixed feelings about this book. Narrated by the two main characters, Olivia, an influencer, and Nicky, who is hired to ghost write her biography, I read this in two parts as part of an online readalong. The first part is told by Nicky, who arrives at Olivia's house to spend a week interviewing her and beginning to write the book but it is soon clear that Olivia's seemingly perfect life is not as it appears and she has secrets that she is reluctant to reveal. We are left guessing what those secrets are and why Nicky is so keen to uncover them. Whilst reading it, this part of the book felt a little drawn out, and with no particularly likeable characters, I wasn't entirely convinced. However the second part of the book was when it got good for me - it went at a much faster pace and was full of twists and turns. As secrets were revealed much of what didn't appear to make sense in the first half became crystal clear and there were plenty of surprises as you are forced to reevaluate your opinion of several of the characters. An enjoyable read but its unevenness let it down a little for me.

Underwhelming
Two and a half, rounding up.When Nicky Wilson, a ghostwriter begins writing the biography of Olivia Hayes, a social media influencer, she gets a little too involved and Olivia gets increasingly hostile. I found the premise of You Can Trust Me intriguing, telling someone else's story, finding out their secrets... but in reality the book fell a bit short for me. The characters felt a little flat for me, and I never really connected with any if them. I never really understood why Nicky cared so much. Obviously as the book progressed and secrets were revealed, everything was made more clear, but I just didn't feel invested in the story. And the ending seemed anti-climactic. Yes, there were secrets, but they were far less intense than I would have expected. The mystery was decent, and well written, but I felt underwhelmed by the ending.
