Q: Seems interesting to try, but it was $10 on Amazon 2 years ago; at $35 it is as much as a proper tripod. Is it worth it?

I got mine for $10.79 in 2018. At that price it was worth it. For $35 you have better options. This is just a simple camera stand not a typical tripod It does have 3 legs but limited leveling adjustments and no vertical adjustments.

Q: Is this tripod sturdy enough for a sony a6300 with a sony/zeiss 16-70 lens. i would be setting it on a cinderblock fence post about 8-9" square

yes it is. you have to play with the balance point.

Q: Are the legs spring loaded or lockable in a certain position?

The legs are on stiff hinges. There are no “fixed” positions for the legs, but there is enough tension to easily support up to 1.5kg/ 3.3 lbs.

Q: do it Includes attachment tool?

All you need is a coin to turn the included screw. It’s a great little tripod.
