Great set but don't start with this one
Metal earth sets are a lot of fun to build. You really want to use their tools though. Don't just grab a pair of needle nose pliers from the toolbox.Theirs are different. They're very flat which makes them good for gripping, bending and reflattening a piece you messed up. They also have a smooth curved exterior which makes them good as a mandrel for forming curves. You will do that a lot. These are very fiddly little sets with small tabs and small pieces. A quick pinch gets them flat again. But be careful. Like any piece of metal if you overwork it they will tear and break. The people complaining about ripping tabs off made a mistake tooany times on one part and it eventually fatigued and broke. It happens. Go slowly, work deliberately, make sure you understand the bend or fold before you make it.Make sure you know which side is the engraved side. Make sure you have the orientation correct because many pieces are asymmetrical and you can get a fold wrong. You usually get at most 4 tries to bend a part before it will fail. This is usually not a problem.. For some pieces they often include a couple spare parts for the more challenging folds becsuse they figure you'll ruin the first one. But not always and only with smaller pieces. This set is not a good one to start with though. This is a higher difficulty set. Learn the basics of how these things go together first. Get a smaller easier set not one of the premium ones. The basic TIE and Xwing are pretty easy. Start with those, make this one your third or fourth set. The nice thing is these are cheap. So my advice in a nutshell is get their pliers and clippers, and do a couple sets before you try this one.

Fun To Build with third option
I decided to extend gears down and close the side doors and rear ramp. Looks cool too.

Another great model from Metal Earth, just have the tools.
Let me preface this review with the saying “the right tools for the right job.” To work on this model, I believe the bare minimal tools would be a micro metal cutter and a small needle nose plier. Without those tools, assembling this model would be very difficult. I would also recommend pillaging every pen, pencil, marker, and round object you can find. That’s probably why my kids were suddenly missing their pencils and crayons…With that being said, this was a fun model for me and was straightforward to build. The difficult bits for me was shaping the pieces correctly. Overall for me it took about 8 hours to complete. But once you finish the model, it looks amazing. Everything from the insignia to the color gradient on the engine exhaust tips are fantastic.I highly recommend this model of the Razor Crest. Get the right tools and take your time building it. The end result is worth it.

Not for Novices
I built this kit and enjoyed doing so but you must pay very close attention to the instruction details while assembling this kit. The option for landing gear up or down is available & the necessary parts are included in the kit. I elected “in flight” mode. The stand, also included in the kit, is not permanently attached and I believe that is preferable - see photos. It is a durable kit, of high quality material & can withstand some disassembly/ re-assembly to correct mistakes, without breaking. I still messed up the assembly of the two engines but the kit is of such good quality that the engines still attached to the main hull and the connections were so good that I even after I missed a few, those engines still stay in place pretty well.Ensure you use good quality tools. I went on vacation & decided to assemble a different Metal Earth model, since they’re such great kits. I didn’t bring MY tools with me (they’re Metal Earth brand or suggested by others to use with Metal Earth kits). I decided to purchase some tools & went cheap in price & quality. The assembly process is much more difficult with cheaper tools, & assembling steps have suffered. I have some good tools en route via Amazon as I write this review - they are a must, and they arrive tomorrow. The right tools make assembling these kits so much easier, with better quality cuts and bends and the kit looks better when it’s done. You will also definitely be less frustrated. In case you are wondering, the kit I started while on vacation was not that difficult. It is the Metal Earth Imperial Tie Fighter, which I will review upon completion.Back to the Razor Crest - this kit was fun & of great durable quality, just use the right tools & don’t go cheap.Metal Earth sells great tools for the job, I recommend them.

Two Configurations
Didn't realize when I ordered it that it can be assembled in one of two configurations: flight mode attached to a pedestal or landed mode with landing struts, access hatches open and ramps for embarking/disembarking. Looks to be made of thicker, sturdier steel than normal and some tinted parts. Looks like it'll be a fun build.

Fun but challenging!
The media could not be loaded. So this isnt easy to assemble take your time. Read the directions but also look closely at the part images. They will tell you how each part should connect its important later for getting the engines to fit cleanly into those tabs on the body. Plus they give you options with or without landing gear. They give you a stand to display it without landing gear. Oh and make sure you have snips to get the parts of the sheets. Lots of thin small parts will bend and break easily.

Great fun to build and look at
It was my first Metal earth build. I had a great deal of fun building it over 10-12 hours. The way the actual metal of the finished build catches light makes it a joy to look at. My only nitpick is that the cockpit windows aren’t colored.
