Start or add to your apiary with our complete hive kit.This 10 frame traditional complete hive kit includes one painted 10 frame 9-5/8-inch assembled hive body, ten 9-1/8-inch assembled wood frames with waxed yellow Rite-Cell foundation, one assembled painted telescoping cover with inner cover, one assembled painted bottom board with reducer. Once your bees draw out most of the foundation, you can add a second deep hive body. Measures 22-inch length by 18-1/2-inch width by 13-1/7-inch height. Made in the USA.

Review: It is getting harder to find painted hive bodies and fully assembled frames -- This is a fascinating hobby, but I am not looking for extra work painting hive bodies or assembling frames. I ordered 4 of the full hive kit and another 4 extra hive bodies with frames. All arrived promptly, neatly painted, sturdily constructed. The wooden frames had plastic foundation inserts. While it was shipped assembled, some of the plastic foundation inserts did fall out in transport, but were super easy to re-insert -- no assembling frames, no clips and was foundation that easily breaks. We will see during the season how the bees react, but my previous experience with fully plastic frames with built in foundation has been good. The only downside is that this came with lots of boxes withing boxes, so unpacking took about 2+ hours. Overall, I am pleased with the construction and with the clean look. Package bees purchased locally get installed in 3 days.

**Q: how many bees can this hive support?**
A: This start box can support about 3 pounds of bees which is roughly around 10,000 bees. You will need to add additional boxes on top as the bees start building brood and honey.

**Q: does this have a feeder included in the top?**
A: No, this hive does not include a feeder, but I would recommend this product to purchase. I purchased the Mann Lake 10 Frame Top Feeder w/Super Painted, and that works great with the HK-170.

**Q: I would like this unit for my backyard. What kind of bees recommended? Close neighbors and a pet.**
A: Any bee can be aggressive at times.  The best for you will probably be Italian Bees.  They tend to me really calm.  Face you bees in an open area away from high traffic areas.  Make sue you keep a good water supply close so they don't end up watering at your neighbors swimming pool or pet waters.  Good luck.  You are in for a pleasant ride.

Excellent speed of delivery (free). Product is well made and exactly as advertised. Bees are happy! Price was good. Only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that it only includes a solid bottom board (which was as advertised). We really wanted a screened bottom board option, which was not available. We had to purchase a screened bottom board elsewhere at an added cost of $35.
