These work well as trivet in most cases: great for protecting surfaces from hot serving dishes or pans and even for individual soup bowls or plates. I wanted these in order to eliminate the hot pads in my kitchen drawer as storage space is limited.I placed one in the microwave to protect the rotating glass tray from waxed paper, which we use to cover bowls of food for reheating. (Tucking waxed paper under the plates/bowls tends to leave a sticky residue on the glass turntable beneath.) In that situation, part of the plastic connecting the silicone-covered rod to the center melted.So these are perfect for hot food after cooking, but not so great for use in the microwave.Additionally, these are not ideal for carrying hot food to the table; balancing dishes on them is tricky.Still, I don't regret the purchase. These trivets take up much less space than a pile of hot pads in a drawer. But I can't eliminate hot pads entirely.4.5 stars.

Just a quick review: Having decided to order a set in white, I was somewhat concerned regarding staining problems from tomato sauce, curries, etc. Well, it's been over two months and they're still in great shape. Highly recommend!

I will be giving these to everyone I know- they will make a great house warming gift/wedding gift or basket stuffer. It is nicer than using like a fabric one because if you spill on it you can just clean it off immediately. It’s nice that you can wash them after each meal and they’re super easy to store. It just feels more sanitary some how. Plus they look cute!
