The Edge 50 Optic is a 50mm flat field of focus optic with a 9-blade adjustable aperture. The newest Optic Swap compatible Optic, the Edge 50 allows you to create images with a sharp slice of focus bordered by gradual blur by tilting the Edge 50 Optic in the Composer Pro or Composer Pro II. Tilting enables you to highlight the subject of your image, lead the viewer's eye, and tell your unique story via selective focus or leave it pointed straight ahead and use your Edge 50 Optic as a 50mm prime lens and capture images that are crisp from edge to edge. When tilted, the width of the slice of focus depends upon the aperture used. Brighter apertures produce a thin slice of focus with lots of blur to isolate your subject from their surroundings while darker apertures get more of your scene in focus. The placement of the slice of focus is controlled by the degree and direction of tilt. Tilt a little for a subtler effect or a lot to get a crisp slice of focus through your image. Rotating the aperture dial on the front of the lens changes between apertures from f/3.2 through f/22. The Edge 50 also features a special close-focus function. Photographers can extend the front of the optic to focus as close as 8" away from their subject.

Gute Ergänzung zu vorhandenen Lensbaby-Optiken
Ich bin erst mal zufrieden. Das Lensbaby Edge 80 war mit in vielen Fällen - vor allem am APS-C-Sensor etwas zu lang. Hier kommt man mit dem Bildfeld entsprechend 75mm KB des 50-ers besser hin. Am Vollformat ist die Normalbrennweite gerade für die Aufnahme relativ naher Objekte gut geeignet. Unterstützend wirkt sich dabei auch aus, dass diese Optik etwas "Zusatzauszug" gleich mitbringt. Noch etwas Zwischenring (entweder Lensbaby oder je nach Anschluss und man kommt problemlos auf 1:1. Dann "hängt" man allerdings schon sehr nahe am Objekt und die passende Beleuchtung wird etwas schwierig. Man muss dann relativ spitzwinklig beleuchten, was SW-Aufnahmen entgegen kommt, bei Farbaufnahmen aber nicht gerade hilfreich ist.

Tolles Fotoergebnis
Ich mag das Ergebnis mit den Objektiven von Lensbaby, wenn auch der Kundenservice von Lensbaby auf meine Frage nicht geantwortet hat und eigentlich damit einen Stern Abzug verdient hätte.Ich nutze das Objektiv an einer Nikon mit DX Format.

Kreativinstrument und super makrofähig
Dieses Objektiv eröffnet am Lensbaby-Composer jede Menge Möglichkeiten zur kreativen Gestaltung des Bildes.Für Fotografen, die noch gerne "mit eigenem Geschick" fotografieren ein Muss.Ideal auch mit Zwischenring als Makroobjektiv. Der Composer mit seiner "Tilt/Shift-Eigenschaft" ermöglichtentsprechende Tiefenschärfen an seitlich fotografierten Objekten.

Swapping lenses is just not worth the aggravation
I bought the Edge to use with the Composer. However, I couldn’t get the Sweet Spot out of the composer. I followed the directions carefully – even called Lensbaby for help. I could not use the Edge without getting the Sweet Spot Out so I returned it. Swapping lenses is just not worth the aggravation

More Lensbaby fun!
This is an excellent addition to the Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic that I bought earlier this year. Great glass for creative shooting!
