20 PCS Q-Hanger, Screw Hooks for Outdoor String Lights, Safety Buckle Design, Easy Release

I bought these to put up my outside Christmas lights and they worked out great. The easiest way I found to install them is to drill a 7/16 hole in the wood first, then screw the hook into the hold by hand. I tried using the included drill "bit" to hold the hook, but it invariably wobbled so badly that I couldn't put the hook in straight. Pre-drilling the 7/16 inch hold made it easy to screw them in by hand, but still tight enough that I didn't have to worry about them coming out. Attaching the lights to the hooks was really quick and easy. I found that adding a loop to the wire keeps the wire from slipping through the hook and sagging. I was able to take my drill up on the ladder with me, drill the hold, screw in the hook, and hang the lights all sequentially--placing 3 hooks before having to get down and move the ladder. I really like these hooks and wish I had bought them earlier. They will save so much time in the coming years.

Ok, so it's not exactly normal to be excited about hardware. Unless you're a goof tinkerer like me. I tend to throw stuff together to fit a need or lame idea I have floating around in my head. Long and short.....The 13 by 10 foot tent canopy we had on the deck was crushed by snow last winter. I left the canopy up, my bad. I saved the corner pieces and took a piece of scrap lumber that was laying around and made a " shelf" for my hanging plants and hummingbird feeders. It'll get me by until I build a permanent structure on the deck. In my box of what-not hardware I had a variety of screw in hooks. They were obviously too small and cheap to even handle a hummingbird feeder. I saw these hooks and figured I'd try them. Well, I have to say that I am in fact, excited by hardware now. LoL. They screwed into the polyethylene coated wood with a little tap, hold a 7 lb glass feeder with no problems. For giggles I even put a gallon size metal watering can that is full of soil and potted plants. It weights about 12 lbs dry and over 20 after the plant is watered. Needless to say, I've quite happy with these hooks. I do love the little locking lever, I didn't really think it would matter, but it does. I'll definitely be purchasing a few of the larger sizes to keep on hand for those off the wall ideas. Especially for use on the permanent structure we're going to build layer this summer.

The hooks are sturdy when properly screwed into wood and work well for holding string lights or other lightweight items (e.g. wind chime). The safety buckle is an added bonus to keep the wire in the hook and not allow it to fall off. 5 Stars and I do recommend this item. Out of the first half dozen we used, 2 had incomplete threading, rendering them useless and unable to be screwed in to wood, regardless of the starter hole we drilled. Those that did work, worked very well. Good value and robust hooks, just know that if you need the full box immediately, you may come up short. For us it was fine, as we only needed a few. Side note on the storage box, that is excellent, no plastic bags here, a reusable, clip shut, plastic box that could easily be used for other things once you use all the hooks.

Just what I was looking for - something to stand up to the elements and also be easy to use. I get a lot of wind on my lanai and the strings on the lights can pull a bit sometimes, so I wanted something not likely to get pulled out. They're metal, which is strong, and coated, which is easier on the wires for the lights, and the wind isn't able to lift them off the hook because of the clasp, the way it would with a normal hanging hook. The clasp is easy to use and there's enough space to hold several wires if needed. The screw part is long enough to firmly anchor in the wood. These are the perfect solution for me.

These things are strong. Screw them into a solid wood and they can do a lot. The locking feature makes it a great choice for outside use, no wind will ever cause anything to come loose.

Really like the spring catch to keep outdoor light strings and other items from falling out of hook. I would say these are light to medium duty and will bend with heavy pressure. So keep that in mind for your intended use. Worked well for our outdoor light string holding 20-22 feet between these anchor hooks without an issue in heavy winds. Recommend using a screw hook driver tool on drill/impact driver if doing a lot of these hooks - makes it easy.

I was looking for a hook for our front door. We didn't want anything that stood out. We wanted it to support different times of the year for a decorative wreath. My husband predrilled a hole, this screw seamlessly screwed into the door by hand. I love that it can support up to 40lbs. It was perfect!
