(I did *not* receive this item for a reduced price/free in return for a review. This seems super common now, so I think it's worth noting in either case.)I've come to really appreciate Anker products. Always well-designed with high-quality components.Here's what I like about the SoundBuds Sport IE20:# Rubber Eartips/EarhooksThe rubber eartips and earhooks are fantastic. I've bought many earbuds over the past 5+ years, but never any with earhooks. I feel like the 'staying in the ear' problem has finally been solved with this system. I actually didn't understand, at first, how to properly use the earhooks: you need to tuck them under the earfold above your ear canal. It sounds weird and potentially uncomfortable, but I can say that it's easily the most comfortable and secure earbud I've ever used. I'd been worried about the bulk of the electronics attached to each earbud, but the end result, with the earhook, is pleasant comfort + stability. (I'd previously used Aukey's EP-B13 Bluetooth Sport headphones, and it's vice-grip style support structure is super sturdy but also pretty darn uncomfortable for exetnded use.) And the variety of eartip/earhook sizes, here, should mean that you'll find similar comfort, no matter what weird ear size/shape you have. (The default sizes were perfect for me.)# 3-button ControllerThe 3-button controller is a step up from other headphones I've used. And it seem to me like they've constructed it so as to be sweat/wtaer resistant, with a single flexible/rubbery 'panel' over top the three very 'clicky' buttons.# Battery LifeFor how small these are, I've been pleasantly surprised by how long they keep charged. I often go multiple days without charging them, and I use them pretty frequently: while commuting on my bike, doing household chores, and exercising. Part of what makes this possible is the clever touch-magnets-to-stop feature. In practice, I find that this means that I never leave the headphones on unnecessarily. Speaking of...# In-Earbud Magnet switchesThese things are super well thought-out. When 'clicked together', they protect against cord tangle. As just mentioned above, it provides an intuitive and natural way to turn off the headphones, which makes it easier to save battery life. But best of all, I no longer find myself fiddling with my headphones trying to turn them on. I find it kind of annoying, with other bluetooth headphones, that I can't just pop them on and start listening. The added cognitive overhead of having to go through turning them on (and if they don't support multiple connections, maybe reconnecting to bluetooth) makes it a hassle, especially when you just want to quickly listen to, say, a short video when you're in a quiet space. So these make it easy to get in and get out of situations where you want to use your headphones. And they're fun! It's super satisfying to click/unclick them together.# Multiple Device SupportI haven't tried many bluetooth headphones, but these are the first I've used that support simultaneous connections to two devices. So you don't have to worry about always pairing/unpairing as you do with other bluetooth audio devices. I actually didn't see this behavior documented in the provided documentation. But I have my headphones paired with my MacBook, my iPhone, and my iPad. I can be connected to two of these devices at any one time - so I can, without doing anything, pause my music on my iPhone, play a video on my Mac, and the earbuds just pick up the new audio stream automatically. It's a little mysterious to me how it works, but it basically just works. So here's how I use my earbuds: I 'unclick' the magnet switches, pop the earbuds in my ears, and play media on any one of these devices and I hear whatever I'm playing on whatever device. The only 'problem': You can't be connected to more than two devices at once. So it doesn't jump around from iPhone to MacBook to iPad without me disconnecting from bluetooth on one of these devices. But, importantly, the earbuds remember each device, so I don't have to go through the initial pairing process once I've set it up with one of these devices. After it's been setup, so long as there's 1-2 active devices around me, the earbuds just automatically connect and things just work.Now to a couple things I don't like:# Flaky Bluetooth ConnectionI'm not sure what might cause this, but these headphones not-so-infrequently have a bluetooth connection that goes in and out. or at least that's what it sounds like. I'll be listening on my iPhone, when all of a sudden the audio starts 'clipping'. So the audio cuts in and out quickly. Sometimes it gets better. But I've found that I normally can fix this by turning the earbuds off and then turning them back on. I haven't had similar problems with the Aukey B-13 bluetooth headphones. The bluetooth range also seems shorter than other bluetooth headphones I've tried. It works fine within 15 ft, unobstructed. But it gets flaky/skippy (similar to what I described above) if I go onto another room and there's a wall between me and my device or if I go beyond 15-ish feet.# Earclips slip around, can be easily lostThe rubber earclips (which, as I wrote above, work really well), stick onto the earbud pieces just by friction. And the curved edges of the earbud 'boxes' make it somewhat easy for these to slip off. The other day I was warming up before a race. I had taken my headphones off and was holding them. And I realized that one of the earclips had come off. Luckily I found it. But it would have sucked if i didn't. In day-to-day use, this doesn't come up as a problem all that often. But it's still something I notice and it means that I often adjust their position on the earbud 'box' to keep it sturdily in place. If Anker's reading this: I recommend adding a plastic 'lip' on each side of the earbud 'box' so as to create a 'groove' in which the earclip can sit. That seems like an easy way to mitigate this problem while keeping the removable earclips (which, as I said above, make the earbuds fit comfortably and securely). Overall, I'd rather have earclips with this problem than no earclips at all.UPDATE 1: Just a day after posting this, I went out on a long 2-hour training run, and my excessive sweat (I think?) got into the electronics and these headphones stopped working. Not ideal. But Anker's incredible customer service/warranty program meant that I quickly arranged a replacement. So know that they're not sweatproof. But also know that Anker will replace the product or provide a refund--even if you are stupid enough to drench non-sweatproof headphones in sweat. My original rating was, like 4.3/5, and this brings my rating down to, like 4.1/5.UPDATE 2: I've now had these for about 6 months and wanted to provide an update. As described in the first update, I got a replacement pair after, I think, sweat/moisture damaged the product. I'm not sure if the new product I received was of lower quality or if I'm simply misremembering, but it seemed as if the bluetooth connection was flakier than before. In any case, during the last 6 months of use, the flaky bluetooth connection has been more annoying than I initially thought it would be. It's hard to tru to reconstruct precisely when/why the connection sometimes fails but I've experienced the following cases:- The headphones are connected to the phone, but they simply do not play the audio that's playing.- The connection is 'choppy' and every few seconds the audio cuts out for a little bit.- The connection initially doesn't 'take', but works correctly after turning headphones on/off.This, in addition to the rubber earhook design, makes these headphones *just* annoying enough that I find myself not using them unless it's important for me to be wireless (while doing chores where the cable gets in the way, while exercising).So I've changed to 4/5 rating to a 3/5 rating. If 3.5/5 were an option, I'd go with that. But sustained use has revealed to me that these aren't quite up to the quality of other Anker products. Anker's SoundCore wireless speaker, for instance, has always been 100% reliable for me, and so it's a little disappointing that this doesn't work quite as well.

The iPhone 7 forced me to go looking for Bluetooth headphones. I own (and really like) my Anker external battery, so I picked these to try out. I've been using them for a week now, and I really want to like the unit, but I can only give it a grade of B-. It's not bad - you could probably do far worse - and some of my issues are maybe common to all Bluetooth headphones. Here goes:[* UPDATED to add: A+ for customer service. After this review I was contacted by Anker customer support offering to refund my money because I wasn't 100% satisfied. Makes me more likely to continue trying their products.]* Packaging and presentation: well done, a solid A. Approaching Apple quality (but cheaper, of course).* Build quality and what's in the box: again, a solid A, well done. A generous collection of ear inserts and ear hooks (which don't work for me, but maybe they help others?), a good quality charging cable, a very nice pouch to store the earbuds. The magnetic on-off is very nice, and the two halves come together with a satisfying click. It feels well-made.* Charging: After I charged it overnight, it lasted over three days of on and off usage before needing a recharge. The next time I charged it off my laptop USB port in less than an hour. I was worried about battery life, but this is okay. B+.* Connection reliability: It works, mostly. There are glitches where the sound skips every once in a while, and sometimes the phone audio won't switch to it unless I re-open Bluetooth in Settings. These are probably flaws common to all cheap Bluetooth headphones.* Audio quality: There's a distinct hiss. If I pause the music on the phone, I can hear the hiss for an extra 5 seconds before it stops, so it's clearly in the headphones. That's a step down from my cheap wired earbuds. It's fine for podcasts, and music sounds OK - no one is expecting audiophile quality here - but the hiss bothers me.* Volume adjustment: Bluetooth audio has a complicated volume adjustment protocol - apparently the sound is always sent at max volume to the headset, and then the phone tells the headset what the desired volume level is. I like to play my audio at low volume, and that has been a real problem: if I use the phone volume adjustment, it goes from VERY LOUD to loud to mute. And then one nudge up on the phone volume makes the sound very loud again. The volume adjustment on the unit itself (+ and - buttons) has worked better, and I've switched exclusively to that. Again, maybe this is a general Bluetooth problem? I'm not sure. On the plus side, if you like your music loud, you'll love this unit!So compared to my wired earphones, I don't like the sound quality as much, and I feel like volume adjustment from the phone is buggy. But I do really like the convenience of no wires from my ears to my pocket. I'd give this unit 3.5 stars if I could, but not 4 stars.

These earphones are, without a doubt, the best sounding (wireless) earphones you can get at $30. However, they do have some flaws.A quick audiophile review:Overall, the sound is very much a V-shape. They're not overly warm, not too bassy like Beats tend to be, and are in no way flat like RE-400s.Lows: Decent "oomph" to them, but if you're looking for overwhelming bass (i.e. if you like the sound signature of Beats), look elsewhere. Lows are not bloated, but are slightly muddy. For $30 Bluetooth earbuds, however, that's perfectly acceptable.Mids: Warm vocals, but not overwhelmingly so. Mids are not the clearest, but are acceptable. Vocals are not silibant and not too forward.Highs: This is where most cheap earbuds fail. These, however, are really not bad at all. Highs are controlled, clear, not overly bright, and don't clip.Overall, a very pleasant listening experience for my money.In addition, the selection of accessories was a welcome addition: wings, different sizes/types of buds, charging cable. Not bad.However, I had problems with the Bluetooth connection itself. When I'm listening and walking (phone in pocket), every now and then (to the point that it wasn't uncommon), the audio would stop for a fraction of a second then come back on again. Started getting quite annoying. Not sure whether this is a problem isolated with this pair.Other than that, however, it's a good buy for the money.
