This is a fairly simple device but quality is good and is as advertised. Early usage shows it works well. I don't anticipate any problems as the manufacturer is a very reputable company in the world of meter design and manufacturing. The parent to Amprobe is a very recognizable name with exceptional quality.

This purchase was required equipment for my husband's work where he will be measuring light at various facilities. Naturally, to get to know the product, it was important to unpack and test it. He did say he felt the instructions could have been more instructive. Upon installing the provided battery, he soon discovered the unit is simple to use. To test the unit he used it in and around our home to gain various readings in different areas. He said it works well. It will measure light from very dim to very bright. It will measure any kind of light. The unit is not heavy, making it easy to carry around. Another handy feature is a built-in memory. It has a large display making it easy to read. Best of all, it works! It will complete the work he is required to accomplish. The unit also comes with a carrying case making it easy to store when not in use.

As a light meter it works well. My only issue is the cord really isn't that handy. It is stiff and allows a minimum of movement, and only allows you maybe 10" of range for setting the light receiver away from the unit. You could forcibly stretch it 2 feet or so, but it retracts right back, and pulling it hard enough to stretch it that far makes it feel like you are going to pull the cord out of the receiver or the meter itself. Other than that it does work well and have enough light range for anything I do with it. It feels like it is durable and will last a long time.

The "ON" button sticks and drains battery the battery, if you are careful you can avoid it by fiddling with it so it un-sticks. The other Amprobe (non-LED) light meter I have is the same construction but the button does not stick. So this might just be a batch problem. Until this started it worked fine, meter readings are about 5% different between LED and non-LED meters. Otherwise this review would be 4 or 5 stars. Update:It has not been a problem to check each time I finish using this meter that the button is not stuck 'on', hence I would now rate this 4 star.
