C5 Headphone Amplifier Silver

I bought this from Amazon because the picture of the Amazon item showed silver ends and a light gray body color. The JDS Labs C5 Headphone Amp I received did not look like this. Instead, the one I received has silver ends and a dark navy blue body. And the logo on the one I received is the new logo instead of the older logo shown in the Amazon picture, but I like that logo better and it means the unit is newer than I expected it to be. I do like the color better than the all red or all black on the JDS Labs site so I am keeping it, but I was disappointed that it was not the color shown in the picture, because that is the reason I bought this here. I will say that this is the real deal, from JDS Labs. Sealed new in the original manufacturer's box. Without any workmanship problems what-so-ever. It is not a copy or a fake. And it is wonderful. The sound is great, it is dead quiet when music is not playing through it, the battery life is great, the switches and input jacks are sturdy, the volume rocker works great. The reason I am giving it three stars is because of the color problem.

1 Year Later:2015-10-16: JDS LAB Customer service let by John Seaber, did a great job. They were professional, patient, understanding and quite informative. It is so refreshing talking to a person who actually knows what they are selling! John worked with me in returning the faulty part and expeditiously mailed back a replacement. The replacement has worked exceptionally great - I love it. I paired it with SE846 - listening to WAV music is a bliss:) That's why i am changing rating from 1 star to 5 star2014-10: The item arrived without a front screw. It was in the package and would not screw back. Bad workmanship! I returned it

I used it to pair the Fiio X3 and Sennheiser HD600. It works pretty well for the job. The sound quality is quite satisfactory, and I can still use the set sort of "portable". The complain I have is that the high/mid/low gain switch does not make much difference. Some times at the mid position, it makes a lot noise. The design is awesome, but the build quality need some improvement.

I use this amp with shure ar 215's and an android phone. The noise floor is very low even on these sensitive in ear monitors. Very happy with this amp.
