We have a small pool, not long enough to get a good workout. I actually considered an endless pool machine, but this is costly and as we rent the house for short term rentals, I was reluctant to add yet one more gadget that could malfunction or could be a liability, just for my use. This works surprisingly well. I think it is easier to swim in place than swimming in an large pool, but for my purposes, it allowed me to use my small pool for exercise, rather than just for dipping. I plan to just ramp up the speed in order to bring my heart rate up. The only thing I would change is to lengthen the tether. I have a railing which is 3 feet from the edge of the pool and the tether didn't reach far enough to allow me to be in the center of the pool and for my legs to not be kicking against the side wall. I borrowed my husbands resistance band, then went out and ought 2 long bungee cords with carabiner ends to lengthen it. The belt fits comfortably and it was loose enough to turn from swimming prone to swimming a back stroke with ease. The tether should be mounted at least 3 feet above the deck, so that it is out of the way when you swim.
