SimplyShred FXC80B 8 Sheet Crosscut Shredder with Compaction Feature

This shredder works great. I feel like a lot of the negative reviews on here are from users who don't oil or maintain their machines properly. It even has LED lights to let you know if the machine is overheated, so there's not really an excuse for burning it out. I haven't had any problems and I'm quite happy with my purchase.The biggest con is that it's ugly. The handle makes it look a lot more like a trash can, and the cord sticks out. But we're talking about a shredder here, not an art statement.The real deal-breaker here is the compactor, which is actually extremely convenient (ever try compacting crosscut confetti by hand/foot?). But ultimately, it's up for you to decide if that makes it worth $16 more than it's $30 competitors.

We are very happy with our new shredder because it has a nice square and compact design with some very cool features. For example: The shredder cover has a sturdy handle which makes it easy to pull off and replace after emptying. The lower container has those activating slots on both sides of the body and so it can receive the shredder cover either way when replaced; with the sight-glass facing to the front or back. One exceptional feature to note is that the shredder cover is also designed to serve as a plunger that can manually be pushed down into the container to compact the building fluff of paper volume. The ability to compact increases the capacity of the lower container before one is required to empty. Lastly, the SimplyShred runs smoothly and operates quieter than most of the shredders we've had. We are hoping that we can get several or more years of service life out this nice piece of home office equipment.

I bought this because it has a lot of helpful features. The top lifts off to empty like a trash can. The unit has a compacter so you can keep using it until it is really full. It has a light that comes on when it turns itself off upon overheating. And just to add to the nice things, it has a little window in the side so you can see how full it is. I can't say how quiet it is since I am hard of hearing, but I don't hear anything so it's not more than about 55 dB. It turns everything into colorful confetti with no problems.

We bought this Dec 2015; and by Jan 2017 (13 months) and just broke! Things we liked: it was small (but not too small) -- good size for household & the "compacting" feature was nice so you didn't have to shake it to settle the shredding. What we didn't like -- it lasted just over a year--we never put 8 pages through (even though it advertises for that): the most was 4 pages at a time - which it would struggle with that! We usually don't put plastic credit cards through it, but put about 3 in during it's "lifetime" and every time it would not shred the cards completely. The shredding assembly broke apart completely.

this shredder is not worth the money at all. I bought it in February and it worked like I expected and was very disappointed that after using it a few times a month it doesn't hold up. It doesn't shred the paper properly after 3 or 4 papers the paper gets stuck in the teeth after you insert the paper to shred. I even bought the special paper to clean and sharpen the teeth and still nothing. I tried to do a return but cant since its been 4 months since I bought it. I cant even find a customer care number to call . NOT A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER AT THIS POINT...

I loved this item when I first got it and shredded quite frequent, being very careful to not overload. But it does not hold up. It sounds like it is struggling now even with one sheet of paper and gets clogged very easily. To do again, I would spend a few more bucks to get a more durable one.

I had been looking for a good home office shredder. I found this product met my eneeds completely. The cross cut feature assures me that confidential documents are completely destroyed and makes me so much more confident that identity theft is much less possible because of document theft out of my trash. Love the product!

Works great! Have used it for months and no problems. You must use common sense though, when the motor boggs way down and sounds like it hates you.... you're trying too many papers at once! I feed about four sheets at a time and it loves me! This was purchased for light use in my home office, not the main fixture in an industrial shredding operation. I love the compactor feature too! When the 'full' light is on, simply push down on the handle and game on!
