Benedict Cumberbatch: The Biography

A detailed account focusing primarily on Mr Cumberbatch's acting career starting at a young age in school plays, to his acting days at Harrow and then bringing the reader to what Mr. Cumberbatch was currently working on at the time this book was published. Although the biographer has compiled most of his information from various media, articles and publications the book carries a very fluid timeline of events encompassing the work of a man who clearly chooses quality over quantity even when he's engaged in mainstream film his choices seem to reflect the art and true passion of "acting" rather than fame and money of a "performer". I also liked that the biographer noted on several instances how Mr. Cumberbatch was misquoted during specific interviews and displayed the corrected quotes exemplifying his own respect and honor for the man. There were very few references to Mr. Cumberbatch's personal life yet again I'd gather out of respect for his privacy but even when noted it was not in a gossip-column, tabloid manner but in a matter of fact/by the way approach and then moved on to the next chapter of the biography. I enjoyed reading this book for the sole purpose of learning how when you work hard for what you decide to attain in your life the rewards come full circle especially when Mr. Cumberbatch clearly chose roles of his own personal interests and challenges for himself in becoming a diverse and versatile actor and not type-cast as character-specific and he does so selflessly with genuine grace and humbleness I can see why he's become so admired and loved on a global level. I gave it a 4 out 5 only because I would've liked to have seen more pictures through the years of his various acting roles. He has the uncanny ability to look so different just from hair color/weight change alone for his roles it's pretty cool actually

I love Benedict Cumberbatch, but this was booooring. I was hoping for something more than a collection of all the data printed about him in magazines for the last decade. I wanted in-depth interviews and new, exciting stories about him. This book reads like a list of data. ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

As a big fan of Ben's, I was looking forward to this book and I'm pleased to say I wasn't disappointed!The book is sturdy and nice quality and to my surprise- even had an entire section of color photos! It's impossible to gather everything about an actor's life, especially one as busy as Ben currently is, but this book is very well done even going so far as to involve the Imitation Game!Great book and good for any fan of Mr. Cumberbatch's!

The writer jumps around in time rather than take the reader through an orderly chronology of Mr. Cumberbatch's life. It reads as if the book is a compilation of twitter comments and the photographs were pinched from the internet. I feel that I wasted $9.99 for my maiden voyage of Kindle.I could have covered most of the book by saying, "Mr Cumberbatch is a busy and accomplished actor and a fine human being." Then added the lists of accomplishments at the end of Lewis' book!Rent the book from the public library in your area.

It's a nice book and all, but it is way out of date at this point.

I wish we had more available about his acting!

Many quotations from Benedict Cumberbatch interviews, which do not seem very authentic. Perhaps, writing a biography of a living actor, though undoubtedly the best of his generation, seems a bit premature.

Truly enjoyed so far- Have a few chapters to go- however as busy as he is will need a sequel soon

Bought this book for my friend who's a big fan of Benedict Cumberbatch and she loves the book!

It's a biography about BC. What's not to love???? Enjoyed it. Would have personally liked some more quotes from the man himself but hey ho :)
