Review: Really Good - As in all this series, it is the heady mix of engaging characters and fast paced plot that makes this a thoroughly enjoyable read. Review: Decent if over long - The first half was excellent but I thought the second half dragged on for too long. Needed 50 pages edited out. Still worth reading though and a great cast of characters as usual.

Wonderful stuff
I've read all the Quinn novels and I have to say that The Unknown surpassed my expectations. The plot was very cleverly constructed and to simply say that the book was a page turner hardly does it justice. The thought process that Brett Battles employed in writing such an intriguing and exciting story was remarkable. To whose who have yet to read The Unknown I would urge them to do so. In a word. Fantastic.

Another storming book
Brett Battles at his best. It was great to to have Quinn and the team back. This is a story that keeps going from start to finish. Lots of action, and the good guys win.

Fast and furious
I throughly enjoyed this book, read it within a day. Quinn and his team keep you in suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone , however if you’re a fan, you won’t be disappointed. Keep them coming!

A welcome return to form and the best Quinn Novel for a while
The last couple of Brett's books have been a bit underwhelming, so I was hoping for a return to form and this book didn't disappoint. I had an advance copy and read this over Christmas. All of the usual characters are back together for a rip-roaring mission. Great to see Nate back in the fold along with the usual crew of Orlando, Daeng and Jar. The story is pacey and with enough in each chapter to keep you wanting to read on. An ideal weekend or holiday read for fans of spy thrillers. I've been a Quinn fan since The Cleaner and am hoping for more like this in future along with more of the Excomms.

Highly highly recommended.

I must say Bravo` I have enjoyed reading this book. I've been waiting for a new Jonathan Quinn novel and thank you Mr Brett Battles for (book 14 The Unknown) This story was unique because it is really far fetch. ! But it was so well written that it seemed believable. And the big plus , was the excellent cast of characters and the fast pace and non stop action. Now I find myself back where I started (waiting for the next novel) Which will be ? And released in ? SOON I hope ###

The Unknown by Brett Battles is a novel featuring Jonathan Quinn. Somehow I stumbled upon this book, which is book 14 in the Quinn series. I enjoyed the book’s premise involving the kidnapping of a noted Swedish scientist by a foreign power. This was a great setup for an action novel involving the good guys chasing the bad guys across several continents. The good guy team apparently had worked together for some time and were well acquainted with one another. They composed a competent team. What intrigued me was the new guy, Darius Kincaid. This happened to be the name used in one of my favorite funtime movies – the Hitman’s Bodyguard. In that movie, Darius Kincaid (played by Samuel Jackson) was a hitman with Ryan Reynolds as his bodyguard. I could not help but notice the similarities. For me there was much too much detail. The reader follows the six man rescue team across several continents. Finally the team makes it to the bunker where the kidnapped scientist is being held. Once they gain entry to the bunker the reader follows each team member inch by inch through several tunnels. I am sure the detail contributed to the realism but for me it was tedious. There is much to be enjoyed about the book. I especially enjoyed Jar’s competence and self –reliance. I especially like stories with strong female characters—this is such a book. The book ends on an intriguing note. A sentient AI is loosed in the world. This, of course, conjures up many “what ifs” to be pursued in the future. This book rates a 4.

Brett Battles is my favorite author! His books are very well written and he takes great care with the text so there are no grammar or typo mistakes. The Unknown is amazing and so typical of his writing; fast paced, lots of twists and turns, keeps you guessing until the end, and the characters are well developed. I love the characters in the Jonathan Quinn series. They are interesting individuals and become my book friends as I read about their lives in the many books in the series. This book is an excellent read! I highly recommend it!
