Wicked Crown (Shattered Kingdom Book 2)
N**Y
Well that certainly escalated…
I have read so many Fae novels that I can practically predict what’s going to happen. Shattered Kingdom has kept me on the edge of my seat since the first page. There are a few things I want to mention about “Wicked Crown”:There are sections in the book that are told in the perspectives of the other characters. I know that’s a little tricky to do well, but I truly believe that they’re important in the development of this story. The story would have dragged if we had to read all the details as they would have developed in the book. Being able to glance into the situations that were happening simultaneously kept the pacing of this book where it’s at. So I think the author made a good call writing it in this way.Gandrett: I like her character and I like that she’s a core piece to this story. I’m finding myself wondering if she would continue to fight knowing everything that is being kept from her. Like, if all the secrets were revealed, would she continue on the same path to help the cause…?Armand: His story breaks my heart. I hope he has a good ending and is able to get everything he deserves. He is proving to be a king in the making, even though it sounds like he is running from that calling.Brax: I really like him and I hope to read more about his character and story. He’s a good brother and my heart was breaking for him towards the end of this book. He and Armand have definitely needed to grow up and carry some heavy burdens for the good of their people.Meister: so at first I thought he was going to be a villain… I’m curious to learn more about him and how he views his role in the priory.Nehelon: Fae! Enough said! So he’s proven to be a very complicated character. I get his conflict, he could easily be more open with Gandrett but more than his feelings for her, is his responsibility. I didn’t understand it until the end of this book. Now it makes sense why he’s been acting the way he has. I hope in the next book, there are more resolutions and hopefully a good turning point as far as his plans go.If you’re still wondering if you should read this book, Yes! A resounding YES! It’s actually a very well written book. It’s fun, funny, action packed, and the characters are all very likable. Even the villains make you curious about them.

Engaging storyline
Steffort continues to weave the storyline around Gandrette, the goddess blessed female warrior who has magic and the Fae warrior, Nehelon. Most of the book is character interactions or detailed world build or character innermost thoughts. The first 2/3 of the book drags at times due to this style of writing. The last 1/3 of the book is fast pace, action & battles. Ironically, I have two books in this series, over 900 pages, and it only covers 3 months in the lives of the characters. The romance is painfully slow burn, not really much of the over all storyline. Lots of push & pull between a lot of the female & male characters, but no hook up. So I keep reading because I think the storyline is intriguing and the characters plights pull you in & keep you reading. I can only hope the pace of the next books in this series is a little faster.

Intricate and outstanding
This series becomes more brilliant and intricate as the author writes each new book. As if Gandrett didn't have enough of an adventure in the first book in the series, she doesn't seem to be able to escape what is coming or who she is. After saving the young prince in the first story, she just wants what she was promised - the chance to go home and see her family. She's been raised as a Child-of-Valla, and this might be her only chance. But as her feelings and her relationship begin to change concerning the mysterious Nehelon Sterngrove, so does everything around her. The kingdom she was sent to help is being infiltrated by an evil thread, and she may be the only one who can save it. Or she may be the means to its destruction.Every time I read one of this author's stories, I'm swept away to a place I didn't realize I wanted to go. Her characters have such depth and vibrance, and her story so many unpredictable twists, that I feel like I've been knitted intertwined in their lives and as though I have a stake in their futures. I don't know how she sees things so vividly and it able to interpret them into something I get to read, but I can definitely say that I am truly glad she shares them with me. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series.

Sooooo Gooooood!!
Definitely hard to put down! So the saga continues as I venture into the third book. My heart is breaking for Brax and Armand 😢 but, I am glad our warrior girl is coming into her own. I'm sure that our Fae Prince will finally get the courage to express what is in his heart! Onward to book #3!!!

Enjoyed the read!
I enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down until the end, where I immediately started reading the next one. Enemies turned lovers starts to kick things up a notch. There's definitely more a comradery and friendship between the two main characters, and it starts to heat up towards the end. I did think the level of heat was a little more than practical for two people who supposedly hated each other until recently, and have only really begun being friends, even if there is a physical attraction. Someone else mentioned that there was no indication as to what caused the rise of a certain evil person (don't want to spoil anything), and I can agree, that even after reading up to book 5, that an explanation is lacking. Does it necessarily have to be in this book? Maybe not. I think it was implied, but more details would have been appreciated. But overall I was glad to see Gandrett get to spend more time with her friends, to spend time developing her own abilities, to see their friendship and fondness develop. I enjoyed the friendship and budding romance with Armand and his lady. I would have loved to see more time spent on Taghi in this book, now that I know more about him. But overall, I loved it. Again, I couldn't put it down. I enjoy how the plot and the characters continue to progress. :)

Such an amazing book, just as good as the first.
Sooo.... I can’t decide whether I like this book or the first book Shattered Kingdom more. This book takes place almost immediately after the first and that’s all I’m saying because I’m not sure what would spoil the first book but I read this over 500 page book in practically one sitting which is the longest book I have read in one sitting but this book and the first are just so addictive.I absolutely love all of our characters for so many reasons that I can’t say because of spoilers but every single character in this book is amazing (even the villain which I was expecting but not in the way it happened). From the characters to the world and history of the world everything is amazing, I went in having no idea what was going to happen and this book shocked me in so many ways that I’m still recovering a day later when I’m writing this review, like both of these book are probably in my top books of 2020 list because of just how good they are.I’m lost for words on how much I love this book, like it’s insane, this book might be better than the first but they both are so good it’s hard to compare, with the ending of this book I’m curious on how the next book will go. Im not sure how many more books there are going to be in this series but I am 100% invested in this series.

enjoyable read
It was a bit slow building up towards the end, however once you get up to 80% things get very exciting - would definitely recommend
