Tasty treats
I picked up this big bulk bag of Swedish Fish thinking it would be something fun to share, but once it arrived, I realized just how much candy 5 pounds actually is. Itโs a lot. I ended up portioning some out into jars and sharing with family just to keep myself from going through it too quickly. Overall, the experience has been really solid. Most of the batch I got was fresh; soft, chewy, and exactly that classic texture I remember. Theyโre not overly soft to the point of being mushy, but theyโre definitely not stale either. That slightly firm, chewy bite is what makes them so satisfying, and it holds up well here. The flavor is spot on too; that signature Swedish Fish taste thatโs kind of a vague berry/fruit blend but instantly recognizable. Itโs sweet without being overwhelming, which makes it way too easy to keep grabbing more. One thing I liked was the mix. There was a pretty even distribution of colors, which made it a little more fun, especially if you have preferences. I found myself picking out favorites and even separating them at one point. Itโs a small thing, but it added to the experience. That said, itโs not perfect across the board. While most of the bag was fresh, there were occasional pieces that leaned a bit firmer or slightly stale. Nothing that completely ruined it for me, but you can tell thereโs some inconsistency depending on the batch. Iโve also seen how easily these could go the other way if stored poorly, so Iโd definitely recommend transferring them into an airtight container if you want to keep that fresh, soft texture. As for value, I think itโs pretty good overall. Youโre getting a huge quantity, and when the freshness is there, it feels worth it; especially compared to buying smaller bags over time. Itโs not the cheapest treat out there, and obviously itโs pure sugar, so itโs more of an occasional indulgence than anything else. But for what it is, the price lines up well with the amount you get. With my next bag, I'm going to try melting some because a friend said its fun way to get a gummy texture onto a desert. So I will have to try it next time. That does remind me, watch out for leaving these in direct sunlight because like most gummy candy, they can get a bit softer or have some melting. In the end, itโs exactly what I was hoping for: classic, nostalgic candy in a bulk size thatโs great for sharing (or attempting to). Just be aware; itโs very easy to eat more than you planned, and once you open the bag, youโll probably want a plan for storing, or sharing, the rest.

Swedish Fish
First, Wow. 5lbs is just a huge amount of swedish fish ok? Share with friends and family! These taste just like I remember they always have. I see other reviews that question the taste - but they taste right to me. Also, they are fresh and soft - but not too soft. In my family everyone likes a different color. My fav are the green ones. I wish we could buy separate colors - but I just separated them. You might be interested to know that there were amazingly close to even in all the colors - maybe a few extra red ones - ironically my least fav! In any case - they have been terrific. I mason- jarred them and have been sharing them around. Would I buy them again - yes! Are they a healthy snack? Nope - not at all. I wish they could use natural dyes. And they are sugar. But when you share this huge bag around you can leave yourself a reasonable amount for a treat once in a while. I do recommend putting them in an airtight container to retain the freshness level - unless you like them a bit more chewy! I have glass mason jars with silicone inserts and they have worked perfectly.

Swedish Fish Diet?
My spouse has a "candy cabinet" in the kitchen which is always filled with at least 3 bags of candy, 2-3 bags of cookies plus something salty like pretzels, which she has no problem eating in moderation. I however am a binge snacker, mostly at night while watching TV. I needed to loose weight for my 50th anniversary trip to Hawaii. I bought a couple of bags of these and left them on the counter so I wouldn't have to see the other stuff. They are relatively low in calories with no fat. 17 pieces = 150 calories. Much better than popping a couple of chocolate bars into my mouth. I ate them when ever I wanted, usually a trip to the kitchen every half hour. The taste gets boring after a while so you tend to eat less even though you can eat all you want. I went from 212 to 196 in about 6 weeks. Did I mention that my blood sugar is good? Lucky DNA. Works with "Good & Pleanty" also.

Gone Fishing
These are the real deal. Good texture, this is a confectionary delight. I think they are chewy but not too sticky. They come in all sorts of different colors so if you love the yellows, oranges and the greens, you will get your money's worth.

What happens when the price drops?
Bought a large bag for vacation Bible school as treats. At 1st the price was too high for our budget. Then it dropped to $22. I bought them out of my own pocket. Opened them up today. The kids were so excited. You know what they say...no good deed? Well they were stale and dry. No "gumminess" to them. The kids spit them out. When you're expecting one sensation and get another , well it can turn you off of the thing itself. Buyer beware. If the price drops, don't buy it. They're just trying to get rid of old stock at your expense.
