While they do work as intended and keep scratches off hardwood floors, It's really only a matter of time before they fail. How they fail is spectacular.These wheels are rated for 100 lbs each, and in a set of five, therefore rated for 500 lbs. I weigh 307 lbs (this is not exactly overweight for a 6' 7" frame) and again, these wheels did perform well, for awhile. But suddenly, I started discovering my vacuum making all kinds of odd noises. As it turns out, the ball bearings were falling out of the casters. Eventually, all 5 of them had the same issue, and the casters had to be replaced, as well as the chair itself (due to another issue involving the hydraulic piston).It's important to realize that when you buy these wheels (if you do...) that the "500 lb." weight rating isn't exactly true. Each wheel can individually handle up to 100 lbs. When one fails, they will all fail in due time.

These work great for our bathroom! We replaced the old black ones on the stool which left black marks on the tile. Now, the rolling stool looks cleaner and the floor won't get all messed up. Bought two more sets for the chair and stool in my office as we are putting in hardwoods.

These Rollerblade Office Chair Caster Replacement Wheels are a great idea and make a nice upgrade to your office chair! The item comes packaged as a 5 wheel set in simple clear packaging (see pictures below). The wheels measure 3 inches in diameter. This was a larger diameter than my stock wheels, so after installation my chair sat about 1 inch higher. I'm a little over 6 feet tall and I like the how the chair sits a bit higher; however, if you are small in stature, or have little clearance between your chair and your desk top, you just need to be aware that your chair may sit higher. The wheels glide across the floor and are much smoother than the stock wheels, which results in less twisting and friction with the floor. It's much simpler to scoot back from my desk now with a simple light push.I have the wheels on a thin carpet over a hardwood floor; I originally had the carpet down to protect my floor from my stock wheels, but am now considering removing the carpet and seeing how these work on the bare floor. Given the soft resin wheel I think it should be fine. The wheels are simple to install, but shortly after delivery I received an Amazon e-mail from the vendor with clear installation instructions including pictures. This item is recommended. It's pure genius to use wheels designed like rollar blades. They are made to be both super smooth and durable. I received a pack of these 3 inch Rollerblade Caster Wheels at no cost in order to review and these are really cool casters that change the feel and operation of my chair. These roll so much easier! If you've even rollerbladed, you know how smooth the wheels roll.It is really easy to replace old plastic casters with these. You do need to double check the diameter of the post though. I had one chair in mind for these and when I pulled one of the casters out, it had a little skinny post and hole. But I had another one with those same style plastic casters and they had the same size post as these new casters (7/16" (11mm) diameter, 7/8" (22mm) length). The old ones came out with a bit of a tug and the new ones went in with a good push. I didn't have to use a rubber mallet or anything. The wheels are a soft polyurethane that rolls smoothly over wood, concrete, vinyl, tile and low pile carpet floors.One thing I adore is they are silent. They switch direction smoothly, without making any noise.. The plastic ones clatter and squeak, especially on vinyl and tile.. These softer wheels roll smoothly and silently. These are also quite attractive and make your chair look nicer. I think they look sleek instead of clunky like the plastic ones. I love how effortlessly these function. I recommend these for those less expensive chairs that have those sticky plastic wheels that get stuck and cause the chair to tip when you try to roll to the desk. You could also use them for other furniture that has casters so it will roll easier.
