Best iron supplement I have ever taken
The best iron supplement I have ever taken. I love the fact that it isn't a synthetic iron supplement and that it has no other nasty additives in it. It is easy on the stomach and nice and strong (which is what I need right now to build my iron levels). After a week, I am already starting to feel stronger and have more energy, whereas other iron supplements have failed.

Dangerous - take only with medical advice, too powerful
UPDATE - this product is dangerous. I'm weaning myself off excess iron in my body. The NHS (on their website) recommends 8.7mg per day for over 18 men, 14.8mg per day for women 19-50, 8.7mg per day for women over 50. So as an older bloke, I should be getting no more than 8.7mg per day. This pills have 27mg each - three times the daily recommended dose. I believed I was short of iron. In fact, the symptoms of too much iron are ironically similar to too little (fatigue etc) so a vicious circle can develop. Unfortunately, iron is not easy to self-monitor with kits reliably. The NHS website indicates too much iron results in constipation, feeling sick (I was), being sick (not quite) and stomach pain. Other websites e.g. healthline warn "The long-term ingestion of high-dose supplements may gradually cause symptoms similar to iron overload. Iron supplementation is another story. It benefits those who suffer from iron deficiency, but may cause harm in those who are not iron-deficient. Never take iron supplements unless recommended by your doctor." If you must take Iron supplements, do so with under doctor's advice and check out Spatone (a more sensible 5mg per sachet). The best way to get rid of excess iron is to menstruate (difficult being a bloke) or donation (have given dozens of times, but no longer able to) or - I hope - just sitting it out, as I believe I realised fairly early. I knew fat-soluble vitamins can build up in the body (A, D, E, F) but not iron. Be careful, be very careful. ORIGINAL REVIEW - The usual form of iron (fumate) causes constipation and a clear sign that little's being absorbed. Not here - these are fermented with Koji (a rice/soya bean fermented food/pickle popular in Japan). This leads to slower, long-term absorption (hence less tummy upset and constipation) and better absorption in the long run, as is closer to natural iron, e.g. as found in meat products. This, of course, is vegan. Solgar is a top-quality brand and has never disappointed. Rolls Royce quality. Highly recommended.

Searched so long for something stomach friendly
Finally Ive managed a year on iron tablets without them messing with my stomach (these dont trigger reflux vomiting in me). Its not a lot to ask and GP will just tell you to take antacids, but as they reduce absorption of lots of things they arent great if there are other solutions and for me they didnt help stop the vomiting. Ive been on these for a year now, Im still not feeling well but I was very anaemic and had been for a very long time.

They work
They did boost my energy levels a bit and helped with tiredness but after taking them for about a week they caused constipation. Had to stop taking them.

They work
Good absorbency. However I did experience stomach lining irritation. I’m sure this is due to having suffered helicobacter pylori recently
