As with anything that is rigid, bending them from their molded shape with excessive force will cause them to break. They will flex without breaking, allowing you to put them in the shoe/sandal pretty easily without worrying about them snapping.

Q: Do these only work with sandles? I’d like to use them for closed shoes to help keep their shape.
