Stephen Stahl berichtet aus seiner eigenen Praxis. Gedanken, die er sich dabei über Diagnostik und Therapie macht, werden eingehend erörtert. Er beschreibt aber auch die Schwierigkeiten in der Arzt-Patient-Beziehung, als auch Probleme in der Kommunikation mit Kollegen und Angehörigen des Patienten. Und zu guter letzt schreckt er auch vor Selbstkritik keineswegs zurück, sondern unterwirft sein eigenes Tun einem möglichst objektivem und kritischem Blick und versucht auch herauszuarbeiten, was man diagnostisch, therapeutisch oder in der Zusammenarbeit besser machen hätte können.
