This is a very high quality kettle, but there are two reasons that I am giving it only 3 stars:- The handle gets too hot to pick up without an oven mitt or cloth- You need to remove the "whistler" in order to pourThis means that when the water is ready you need to first find your oven mitt, then remove the whistler, and then pour the water. And you also need to put the whistler back when you are done. It's not a big deal, but not as convenient as I would have liked.

This is the worst piece of garbage I've had the misfortune of buying on Amazon. It doesn't whistle unless you press down all your weight on the lid (which is very hot so you have to use an oven mit). And if you can get it to whistle, it's as soft as a mosquito buzzing. And then, to pour, you have to use an oven mit to remove the whistle devise, leaving you with a very large spout! What idiot designed this, and what idiot made this -- I don't know. I'm just the idiot that bought it.

I purchased this tea kettle three and a half years ago after doing extensive research wanting a tea kettle that wouldn't leach metals into my water or leave a funky film inside. Having a history of cancer, this was a non-negotiable requirement. After pouring through web site after web site, I found Demeyere. After reading about the company's history and technology advances, I was impressed. I make tea daily, sometimes twice a day for my husband and I and to this day, the inside is just as squeaky clean and shiny as when I first purchased it and my tea tastes just as good as the first time.December 2015 - I'm still using the kettle and still very happy.March 2018 - Still have the kettle and still loving it.

I washed the kettle with cleaning soap before I used it. However it was useless; it kept emitting terrible odor when the water was being boiled. I washed the kettle once again with vinegar and boiled the water with some drops of the vinegar inside. Still useless! Strongly recommend not buying it!

My mom used to have one of these kettles, but through overuse it had to go. So I ordered this as a replacement. I love it. Very stylish, nice design, holds more than enough water, and does exactly what it says. I think some people expect a train whistle to blow when their water is ready, which is why you so often see poor reviews. It doesn't work that way. The whistle on this kettle is perfectly audible and does the job. I can hear it down the hall, but obviously not if other noise is present. It heats water up quickly. A nice addition to any kitchen.

I love this beautiful kettle!! My order was delivered promptly and in mint condition. It heats up quickly and the handle stays cool. The whistle isn't crazy loud but it's perfect for me. You do have to remove the top from the spout once boiling, but this isn't really a problem. If you catch the kettle shortly after it boils you don't usually need an oven mitt. I've had this for about 3 wks now and haven't had any issues. A great product from Belgium but made in Thailand.

Bought this kettle a while ago and it still looks like new. We use vinegar to dissolve the calcium deposits every few months and the kettle holds a lot of water when you need it. Great quality and good looks.

This kettle is absolutely beautiful! It heats up quickly and efficiently. Quality craftsmanship. Comfortable and pleasant to pour (handle stays cool). Whistle is loud, and is easily removable. I'm very happy with the investment I made purchasing it.
