Q: Are the outside dimesions wrong? They seem too big to match your inside dimensions.

Looks like someone has changed the description so it looks a little confusing. But here are the measurements: 4" x 7" x 1-5/8" hidden inner compartment, with a magnetic closure. Exterior measures 5-1/8" x 8-3/8" x 2". Hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Sorry, I do not know. Inside measurements are approximately 1/2 in smaller all around then exterior dimensions of box.

I don't know if it would work for traveling. It works perfectly in a bookcase mixed amongst other hardback books. But it might be too obvious just by itself in a suitcase. It would be better to find a book safe that actually looks like an actual novel. Amazon use to sell them. They have the front and back covers of an actual book reproduced on the booksafe. Try looking for a Novel Booksafe instead. It would be much less obvious.
