Recommended Wall Phone - a U.K Review
I searched in local shops for a wall phone with caller ID and I wasn't able to find one. Searching online I found this model and as it seemed to fit all my needs, I went ahead and ordered it.The phone arrived well before I expected it to and was very well packaged. It is manufactured in the U.S.A. and is designed and configured for the American market. The cable from the phone to the wall is terminated with a small RJ11 jack, not a standard UK type phone jack. However it slotted into the smaller of the two holes of our BT broadband filter usually reserved for a FAX machine or modem and a dial tone was heard ok. The phone doesn't need a mains power supply. The phone is a nice design, looks good and feels ok. The ringer has 3 volume levels, but only one (pleasant) ring tone. The display shows time and date (set by the user) number of calls received and new calls, as well as the Caller ID (subscription required from your provider of course).Caller ID works but is shown in the US phone number format e.g. xxxx-xxx-xxxx which takes a little bit of getting used to. The caller's number can be checked before lifting the handset. The most recent numbers received can be scrolled through and dialled at the touch of the centre button. Only 3 numbers can be stored in the memory which is backed up by 4 x AA batteries (not included) located in the base unit. You cannot store a name against each number, Each of the 3 numbers are stored under a separate key on the handset and the number's owner is written on the base unit. The phone is configured as a desk phone in the box, but is easily converted to a wall phone by sliding off part of the base, turning it around 180 degrees and clipping it back on. Screws and wall plugs are not included. The chord connecting the base unit to the handset is a little short, so if used as a desk phone, the base may move around a bit as it is quite light. In my opinion, this unit is best used as a wall phone. There are a couple of functions on the phone which cannot be used in the UK, and would be of little use anyway, but despite this, I would recommend this phone for use in the kitchen or bedroom.Update: the main chord supplied with the phone is around two meters long which was too short for my needs. I bought a longer chord from Currys with a standard UK phone jack on one end, however this did not work and I had to return it. I later bought another cable from B&Q with an RJ11 jack at each end designed for a modem and this worked fine.

Great Quality Phone
This AT&T TR1909WH phone is a replacement for a GE Slimline phone that decided to call it quits after 17 years. After much research and reading reviews, we decided to go with this make and model. It was easy to program and install in the place of our old phone not needing to change the position of the screws on the kitchen wall. The coil cord provided is a bit short so we changed it out with our old 6' cord. The size of the display is large and easy to read. Would have liked it to be illuminated but definately not a deal breaker. Maybe AT&T will do this on their next model. The quality of the calls are clear with no crackles or static.Another feature that we like is that the batteries are located in the front of the base unit and not in the back as it was on our old phone therefore making it much easier to change. Please be advised that it requires 4 AA batteries that are not provided. All in all, with it's great looks and quality of workmanship, we would absolutely recommend this phone.

Great Phone During Power Outages
This is a great phone for emergency during brown outs when those wireless landline phones do not work. Less 1 star because there is no speaker phone and also the LCD display has no back light so it is hard to see display in dim light.I like that you can install it as a wall phone. You need AA batteries for the caller-ID to display and of course subscription for caller-ID. The sound is also clear and crisp on both ends. There is also a switch for high, medium and low ringer volume. The phone feels solidly built and not cheap and light to handle. Great buy for the price.
