"Shrapnel...it's embedded in my head!"
You just gotta love this book! There really is a reason why it's gotten so many 5-star positive reviews. If you like the old classic-style comics (the way DC and Marvel used to do them), then I think you'll enjoy this collection. Even though it's a parody of "real" comics, it manages to be much more fun than any of the crap currently churned out by both Marvel and DC. I love the cameo appearance of "Peter Parker" on page 125, and I even spotted a Bart Simpson lookalike on page 139. I really do hope there will be a volume two eventually. Until that happens, buy this book and keep on enjoying it! Great writing, art, and beautiful colors printed on quality paper.

Tolstoy Beware
Until three weeks ago, I thought Radioactive Man was nothing more than an aside, an on-going joke on the SIMPSON's television show. Then, at a Barnes and Noble book store, I saw this beautiful hardcover book and took a few secondes to flip through the pages. I couldn't get it out of my head. Then, I bought it from amazon.com and was thoroughly entertained and amazed by the creativity and skill that put this together. It is so reminiscent of the Marvel Comics' superheroes' soap opera dialog and the small jokes at the bottom of each issue's first page. Like with DC comics, Matt Groening has created a bizarro Justice League of America (the Superior Squad) and the Squad's equally dangerous team of super-enemies.The artwork is superb, the stories are creative, the constantly-repeated "origin stories" take me back fifty years when I devoured the DC and Marvel comics like an addict. This is a great bit of art, storytelling, and social satire. I'll give away the fact that President Nixon appears in it, but I won't say anymore about the evil Illuminati/Bilderbergish group that Radioactive Man and Fallout Boy must contend with. I can't wait until the RADIOACTIVE REPOSITORY - VOLUME TWO comes out.

Up And Atom!
When Bongo comics first started, they published a few series including Radioactive Man, supposedly the actual comics from the Simpsons universe. The series didn't sell well but new stories have been coming every so often and it's very clear that this is a labor of love. So much work is put into the stories that unless you are a hardcore fan of comics, you will miss many references. But the thing is, that doesn't matter, the stories can still be read and enjoyed without a feeling of confusion. Parodying superhero comics from the 50's to the 90's, Radioactive man is also a loving tribute to these stories (well maybe not so loving for certain parts of the 90's). This collection itself is a takeoff of marvel's masterworks line and DC's archives ( it even has a two spoof intros which are cool to read). The book is sturdy and well-built and the stories are fun to read. After reading it once, I read it again a few times and took away something new each time. Highly recommended.
