Compare known genuine oils and you will find many markers. the above are only a few pointers. Odour is very distinguishable between the two. Beware of adulterated oils, quite often arvensis is added to piperita to stretch it, however to a trained eye it is relatively easy to spot. There are many literature examples of both oils for reference.
