Does it have an AC jack and what cord would you order to go with it? Also, is it good for books, resuming where you left off?

No, there is no AC jack. No, there is no resume button.

Does it play rewritable cds?

yes, it does. My only complaint is that it is very sensitive to bumps.

Yes. It will play CD-R disks if they are burned as audio CDs. It will not play CD-R disks if they are burned as MP3 (i.e., data) disks.
