Great value.
Great for a basic programmable thermostat. I’ve had it installed for about 5 weeks and no issues. Great customer support also. Easy install.

Does not work as expected
The Thermostat works ok but the EMR (Energy Management Recovery) does not work well. EMR is supposed to turn on your Heating/Cooling system prior to your preset time, in an attempt to reach the desired temperature by the preset time. This was hit or miss for me, sometimes it worked as expected other times it did not turn on early. To disable this function the manual says to cut the jumper W903. I have cut that jumper and it still acts like it is trying to do the EMR. Need a better way to enable/disable this feature. At this point I would not recommend this Thermostat.

Well-designed product
This product is a reasonably-priced option for automating your heater usage and making it more targeted. We are using it with an incredibly basic, 20-year-old propane wall-mounted furnace. Previously, it had no "bells and whistles", it was turned on or turned off manually or came on when the room temperature got down to what the old thermostat was set at.The installation booklet is pretty easy to understand, but our old wiring was so basic it didn't match the examples in the booklet. So I'd like to mention how amazingly helpful Emerson's tech people are! I called with a question on a weekend afternoon, and a real live person answered right away. She understood my description of the problem, she clearly explained what to do, and helpfully answered some follow-up questions, too. These days, that's a rare occurrence, unfortunately. Thank you, White-Rodgers/Emerson!

Lots to love - only one thing to hate
I've been using Honeywell thermostats for years but found them to be a bit sensitive to failure. Unlike the Honeywell, where you pull the entire front of the unit, circuit board, display, etc., off to check or attach the wiring, this Emerson allows one to only remove a cover, while all the working parts remain attached to the wall. I've killed Honeywell thermostats by dropping the front cover on the floor, only to watch it fly into pieces, never to work again. The only problem is attaching the thermostat wires. There's only a very cramped space to try to get the wires into the proper connection points. It can be done but it's very aggravating. I might have let loose a couple of curse words while trying to get it installed.
