It seems this product is made for the 1000 piece German (Ravensburger) size of puzzle and is not large enough for American ones. Is this true?

The dimensions of the last two 1000-piece puzzles that I bought on Amazon, from this brand, are the 20x27. (Serial No. 16 456 1 and 15 391 6) I also have 1000 piece Buffalo brand puzzles and they are of the same dimensions I mentioned above. And recently I acquired a 1000 piece Lego puzzle with dimensions of 20x25

When this puzzle organizer is shut can I carry it just as I would a briefcase and the pieces will stay in place?

Absolutely! I have owned this puzzle keeper for several years, and it's fantastic. Those that said you could not carry it like a briefcase are not understanding the design. You put the puzzle together on the cardboard inside. When you want to close it, you put the puzzle with the cardboard on top of the sorting trays side. Then close the other side on top of it. Once it is securely closed, you can carry it like a briefcase. This puzzle organizer comes highly recommended by me, a big puzzle fan!

What does this product weigh? Amazon specs indicate it is over 8 lbs. Want to purchase it for an elderly person and am concerned about the weight.

I think 8 lbs is pretty close, it is easy to carry. Pay attention to the dimensions and the dimensions of the puzzles, we found that a lot of puzzles we wanted were too large.

Will this fit a puzzle that is 39" x 13"?
