Q: I need a definitive answer on whether this is good for cats, or not.

I have been using this on my 12lb orange/white 1/2 seal point siamese cat for almost 5 years to great success. My cat has only been shocked once, maybe twice, and never again as he has learned that the warning sound means a shock is coming, so all it takes now is the warning beep. I also tested the shock from the device and was surprised to find that the first shock is not even really a shock at all by my definition, it is more of a very mild uncomfortable feeling like you would get by putting your tongue on a very weak transistor battery. So long as the collar is periodically removed, this device has not presented any evidence of harm or injury to my cat over the past almost 5 years.

Q: What happens if I put the collar 24-7 on my cat??

I left it on my cat 24/7 despite the manufacturer's recommendation not to. The cat was the type who would constantly push his boundaries, and could be very uncooperative when he wanted to be. So if I took the collar off he'd go straight to the no go zone and sass me. Then not let me put it back on him. Therefore he wore the collar all the time. Unfortunately he was also the type who would periodically test the batteries and start hanging out in the no go zone as soon as they ran down. Thankfully the batteries lasted quite sometime, and didn't need changing often.

Q: What's the dfference between the mini barrier and the indoor barrier

The mini has a smaller range. Great for smaller areas.

Q: Where is the rest button

Thank you for your question! The barrier unit has a + and - button, each which are used to increase or decrease the range of the signal, but the unit has no rest button.
