Tubes can be used to store and collect many types of small items, like: candy, pins, screws/nuts/bolts, BB's, pellets, candles, coins (including quarters), party favors, seeds, rocks, soil samples, flowers, bugs, shells, beads, crystals, bath salts, 1" gumballs, and for packaging and products like knife blades, fishing lures or other specialized tools.These tubes are Not recommended for storing liquids, the clear plastic tubes are flexible (see last picture).The length of the tube itself is 4.5", and with both ends inserted it is 5.5" overall. Inside length is ~ 3.5". The plugs are inserted about half their length into the tube, not on the "outside" of the tube. The plugs can be cut with a sharp knife to increase the storage space inside. The melting point is in the 400-500 Fahrenheit range though. **Q: Can a once inch gumball fit in the tube?** A: Yes a 1" gumball will fit inside the tube, but you will only be able to put 3 gumballs in these tubes, because they are 4.5" long, and each end-cap needs to be inserted into the tube 1/2" (need two, so total of 1" of tube is used up), leaving only ~ 3.5" inside the tube. And there will be ~ 1/2" of extra space for the gumballs to slide around in, and smash together. You could only fit about (6) M&M candies in this extra space, so it is not enough to put some other kind of good candy in. SO WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE FOR GUMBALLS. Sorry ! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for storing compressed towelettes *by P***E on Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2018* Bought these to store compressed towelette discs for camping and first aid kits. Works well for this purpose, although diameter is a bitter larger I than needed. Each one can hold 13 Wysi brand wipes (not sure if other brands are same size or not). I cut the insides of caps off as suggested to gain this capacity, they held 8 or 9 discs otherwise. Cuts cleanly with a sharp knife, just make sure to only cut the very end off (after the sealing rings). I cut the first one between the rings and it doesn’t maintain enough friction to stay closed, it’ll pop open out of the container if it is squeezed. This is not a problem with the ones where I changed the cut location. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Why the Plugs? *by I***L on Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2016* These are good, though I don't understand why anyone went to the trouble of creating the 'plug' ends that eat up so much space in the container. I needed a compact way to store 1" round solid fuel tablets inside small camp stoves, and this was just the ticket. It was easy to trim the tube to the precise (shorter) lengths I needed with an X-acto knife. I ended up using 2 'caps' per tube, but I only needed three so no problem. They fit tightly enough that when sealed I couldn't smell the (considerable) stink the fuel tabs put off.
