Camp Chef Round Cooking Iron

After many uses, I'm ready to declare my love for this pie iron! I didn't realize when I ordered that it's a "deep dish" compared to the standard pie iron available in stores. That lends itself well to lots of new, improved campfire meals (of the non-sandwhich variety). Skeptical at first, I tried lots of things to see if it would fail me... eggs, hashbrowns, marshmallows, pastry crust, refrigerated cinnamon rolls... and have yet to be disappointed! Great buy! It seals well, the latch closure is tight and secure, and it hasn't rusted despite being left in the rain. My family members were so wowed that they all want one for Christmas! Would highly recommend. Especially good value for the price.

very convenient and versatile. i am looking into getting one more. because it truly is single portion made to feed one. the kids loved it1/2014 UPDATE: All I Can Say Is WOW2+ years later still a great product, Camp Chef hit it out of the park with this one. I cant name one thing i have not tries in it. We have made everything from breakfast to dinner and hamburgers to eggs to dessert pies.Easy to clean, easy to use, i recommend this item for multiple uses. It is heavy (because it is cast iron and solid) you could probably stop a charging bear with it but i have not had to try. But a raccoon did try to drag it away on our last camping trip. Needless to say he didn't get far with it.

Campfire fun. We've used it several times to cook burgers over a fire. Does a great job. Easy to clean like ant cast iron skillet.

Used these to entertain my kid as we cooked over the campfire during the 4th of July weekend. We quartered a few biscuits, dusted them this cinnamon and sugar, and heated them in the pie irons. We burnt a few at first, disregarding patience and cooking them over direct flame. Once we settled down and focused on producing edible biscuits, placing the irons under of around the flame worked best. I learned that placing a fresh, large log on top of the fire makes a nice cooking stand to rest your irons on while they cook. After aporoximately 4 minutes per side, we had nice pull apart biscuits. The Camp Chef pie irons themselves are well built and properly seasoned. The irons are heavy, but that is to be expected with any cast iron product. The handles are long, and screwed in tightly to the cast iron. I kind of wish they unscrewed or collapsed in some way, but I just store them next to my fishing rods in my RV since the length is similar.

Another brand (aluminium) actually melted in a bonfire. These are very well made and look bomb proof.

For an indoor kitchen stove yes it is super long and may not be as convenient. But this model gives me two seasoning ladles(known as tadka ladels in India). Just the right amount of oil and seasonings can be roasted and done very nicely.I think if the camp chef needs to make the tadka pans too.

Unlimited options to make here, some of our favs, ham and cheese, PB&J, Nutella, s’mores …Endless!

Just like mine from the 70s but this one is too big to seal the edges of the bread and made a burned mess when the contents spilled into the cast iron
