These mini lava rocks are incredibly beautiful...
I've been wanting these since I set-up my first tank & just finally ordered a bag. They really are beautiful & new male betta seems to really enjoy them. 12 lava rocks in the bag.

Good, but needs thorough rinsing, and bag is small
The sand is nice but I was surprised how much dust there was. I had to rinse it about ten times before the water got clear. Even then it took about a day of running my tank filter until the water wasn’t a bit murky. Also the package is smaller than you might think. I have a ten gallon tank and ten bags of this didn’t even quite leave an inch of coverage. You probably need a bit more than one bag per gallon. The color once wet it more like a medium red, not purple. It’s pleasing but not how it looks dry. Sand seems good quality. My Corys, shrimp and snails seem to like it more than the substrate we had previously. Didn’t appear to do anything to water chemistry which is a plus.

This can kill your finned babies!
It is NOT regular "gravel" for fish! ( It is VERY rough and sharp, and will hurt your fish's fins! )***This looks EXACTLY like something called "black beauty" blasting sand. ( IOW : It is what is used in an industrial sandblaster. )( I used to co-own an industrial repair shop, and this stuff looks just like our old "blasting sand"! )

Happy with the size and quality, but my fish died the same day I added them.
Nice rocks. Small in size, but looked great in the tank. I gave it a 4 star, because my fish died the day I added the rocks. I even washed the rocks a few times before introducing it to the tank. I'm not sure if this is the cause of my fish's death, but just make sure to clean the rocks real well... it was pretty upsetting. My tank is clean, well filtered, no plastic plants- only real plants, and one soft edged rock cave.

Terrible!
This is terrible! It floated all through the water and is like tiny pieces of glass! Do not buy for your betta tank!!

If I had known the bag was that small I’d have gone to petco
Super small, opened in transit so I got even less. It’s black sand though, so it is what it is.

Garbage! Betta killer!
These rocks are like shards of glass! My Betta cut his whole body badly from bumping into them while exploring his new tank. However, sigh, Amazon was great and refunded my money. I guess that is a win. My fish has since recovered, but these should not be marketed for Bettas. Their fins are too delicate. They also were supposed to be all black, but had brown granite looking rocks in with them that looked like poop. Not attractive. Do not buy!

Betta fish tank sand
I would not get this again for my fish tank. It is horrible to clean . You can't even use a fish tank rock cleaner. And it is way to expensive for the small size bag you get. And it is not safe for the fish

Extremely tiny amount
Not even enough to fill the bottom of a bowl too small for a betta. Maybe fills half a can of soda. I thought it was extremely fine gravel but it is more like coarse sand. A sand that is nothing special to deserve such an price. 5x more expensive than a pocket of coarse black sand for nothing more.
