I'm getting a lot of static through the amp with this guitar. Any idea what the problem is?

New cable, if not, it could be loose bolt washers holding the hardware in place on the guitar and/or amp. Try a new cable, if there is still noise try a different guitar and finally a different amp

I will rephrase my question. Got this guitar today. I plugged it to the amp, all volume buttons are to the top and the guitar doesn’t make any sound.

Is the instrument cable OK? Is the volume knob on the guitar turned up? Otherwise contact the seller directly.

Does this guitar arrive boxed/well packaged?

Yes it was very well packaged. I have brought 2 GIO's via Amazon. The box is sturdy & the internal polystyrene is strategically used for any edges that may take a knock, both arrived in perfect condition AND both in tune.

Checked the amp and cable with another guitar, no static with those only with this one. What's the problem?

May be loose connection point on your input, faulty wiring, poorly wound pickups, if contact the seller and have it swapped
