Yes it is worth it.
This scanner is an absolute must if you want to scan *anything*. Long forms, short forms, business cards, birthday cards, medical documents, brochures, I can put anything in the feeder and this machine will scan it with perfect clarity.I used Brother scanners prior to this and the scan quality is leagues above anything the brother scanners gave me. Not just the image that is produced, but the alignment is always 99% to 100% perfect. I swear the brothers would always scan at an angle and would crop off the edges. Better connectivity too, the brother scanner that I had plugged into my computer would disconnect and would be an absolute pain to reconnect. This machine, on the other hand, keeps an active connection even if I come back a few hours later. The software is soooo easy to use. It can read the document and make a filename for you with 90% accuracy (higher quality scans give better automatic text reading). You can easily edit the PDFs by rearranging the page order, rotating them, deleting unwanted pages (kinda rare because its like 98% accurate in not scanning blank pages). If you want your scans at a consistent level of quality instead of automatic, I recommend making your own profile and setting it on the touchscreen.I do use this on USB connection and not wifi, can't comment there. If I use the wifi and its not good, I'll update this review.

Superb Quality Scanner with Excellent Bundled .pdf Software
Well, I have to admit that there was ONE minor "chink in the armor" of this excellent scanner. The .pdf manipulation software that is pretty much required for scans of any size is not included in the packaging and must be downloaded. A license key for Kofax PowerPDF Standard v4.0 is included in the packaging, but Kofax PowerPDF Standard v4.0 can no longer be downloaded. Fortunately, Ricoh has a technical support phone line and after explaining the situation to the courteous representative, he sent me a link to the software that Ricoh had intelligently downloaded to their server. Kofax PowerPDF Standard v4.0 contains everything you need and would expect from a premium .pdf software product. Once I was able to download the correct file, the included registration code successfully registered the software and I was able to save the $129.00 that Kofax PowerPDF Standard v5 was selling for. Version 4 is all you need. The scanner is fast, accurate, and intuitive once you get everything working. The scans are of superb quality and I am very pleased with this purchase.

The perfect ADF scanner
I used an older model at work and was happy to upgrade to this model for home use. It is straight forward and easy to use. The touchscreen menu is great. The included full PDF editor program makes scanning and adjusting documents very easy to do. Most PDF software is subscription based so having a full version included without having to pay extra fees is welcome. I got the white version. It looks great on my desk with my HP M110W compact LaserJet printer.

FINALLY!!!
I’ve been wanting to buy one of these for a long time. It’s the best, and there’s nothing else that compares. Using a flat bed printer scanner combo device is so slow and usually comes with terrible software. Knocked out 2 days worth of scanning in ten minutes with this thing. I love it.

Very Excellent sheet scanner
Recently, I replaced my 2009 SnapScan when I moved to a silicon Mac. Seems that the old software & machine were not compatable with the new Macs. Yes, there was 3rd party software available; but the scanner was 15 years old with OEM parts. It scanned well over 150,000 sheets. The ix1600 is very comparable to the old i1500 model. The ix1600 is much faster. The ScanSnap scanners are very good, reliable, and good value for money. So far the software does work but has a different presentation and flow than the older scanner software. The software works differently from the i1500. The new stuff is much fancier and is taking some time to reconcile. A few pointers as best I have learned so far .......1- the software stores everything in "its" library. I have a system (over the years) where document are placed. After moving the scans to the right place, having to clean up the ScanSnap homepage is an extra chore to do. yes, small potatoes but extra.2- the old scanner allowed "one sheet per file", so the feeder could be loaded up with a mash of items. The new software seems to only allow one file per feeder load. So, either scan one sheet at a time or pluck pages out of a 50 sheet scan?3- the software seems to be built for a large volume invoice processing or high traffic client office, which is different from the old software. As I recall, the old software seemed to allow more "manual" control and options.4- the business card scan does not extract data from the scan for automatic input into a database ..... as best I can tell. So, scanning business cards is like scanning photos.5- the software has a different feel. No doubt, I will get the hang of it.

Ultimate Scanner
Fast, easy, and rather expensive. If you need a functional scanner, this little monster is worth every single penny. Best purchase I've made for my home office in decades. Yes, it's probably overkill. Wait until you need a 30 page document scanned to make your final evaluation. I love this thing!

Scans everything I throw at it so far.
I bought this initially to scan books that I had cut the bindings off of, and it worked excellently for that purpose. I then used it to scan old postcards. It scans both sides and is super fast, in fact, too fast to capture the paper as it comes off the scanner. Read the instructions carefully, and you will find that this will give you great images, and it is very easy to use. The design folds up nicely to tuck away on my desk. It connects easily as well. A bit expensive, but worth it.
