Fashion Insider Ken Doll Gift Set Barbie Fashion Model

I love this Silkstone Ken. He's my one and only. Beautiful to gaze upon. It was months before I could bring myself to debox him as I wanted to enjoy him in his perfect "never-removed-from-the-box" state for as long as possible before I eventually caved and deboxed him. Dressing him was indeed a test in patience and dexterity of the hands and fingers. He comes already dressed in his undergarments and socks. Start dressing him with the shirt. Be careful not to get his thumb caught in the shirt cuff. Take your time so as not to tear the clothes. After you get the shirt on and snapped shut (2 snaps) then comes the blue tie. I had forgotten how to tie a tie, so I had to search for a diagram on how to do that. Don't be frustrated if you find you can't get his shirt collar to rest perfectly over the tie. You won't be the first that's happened to. Now come the trousers. This was the hardest for me because it was quite a struggle to get these snapped closed at the waist. I finally managed to do that. Then came sliding the belt through the belt loops and fastening the belt into the buckle. Take your time. Seriously. Remember you're doing this to have fun, now, right? Okay. Then comes the jacket. That's pretty easy. I haven't figured out how to get him to hold the briefcase, magazine and coffee cup. Maybe some clear adhesive tape will do the trick. Then place him on the doll stand that comes with this set and there you have it. All that's missing is a fedora. I wish Mattel had included a hat to give it all a complete look. Oh, and I wasn't sure what rating to give for "durability" because I don't really want to test how durable this Ken is by beating on him with a blunt object. He's much too lovely to mark up. So I compromised by giving 3 stars for durability. I am always careful with my dolls and treat them with tender loving care.

This 2003 edition Silkstone Ken is very handsome! He was the first ever male Silkstone doll. I haven't yet had the guts to remove him from his box, but I think eventually I'll cave (he'd make a wonderful partner for my Silkstone Highland Fling Barbie who currently sits alone in a case). As is typical of Silkstone dolls, there is a pleasing attention to detail. Fashion Insider Ken is dressed in boxers and a t-shirt, but comes with a beautiful black woven suit and a white dress shirt. There are also other accessories included, such as a press pass, sunglasses, a faux leather briefcase, belt, black shoes, socks, a cup of coffee and a magazine.I purchased him from Amazon for roughly $100, which is just a dollar or so more than the original price. It looks like current sellers are offering him at a similar price. Sometimes you'll find Barbie dolls are sold for astronomical prices on Amazon by sellers. He's definitely worth the price, especially as male Silkstone dolls are rare.

This is a very well made collectible from Mattel. The quality is exactly what you would expect from a Gold Label Silkstone Barbie. There is really great attentention to detail in the clothing and the doll comes with a great accessories like a briefcase. Mattel hasn't released any other Silkstone Kens, to my knowledge, this would make a great addition to any collection.

This Doll is awesome. I have been waiting a long time to get one. He is not a toy, definitely for adult collector.
