Mine could reach his head and scratch it without issue. Since he has stitches on his head and abdomen, it means he can't use this one. After he was neutered, all hell broke loose in his body hormonally and gets kidney stones now. Yes! Things no one tells you can happen happened. 2k to remove a stone is about half as much as it was for me to have a stone removed. I digress... It stays put. He cannot reach anything else but his paws. Compared to the Elizabethan cones, he can reach his food and sleep comfortably with this collar. He's been purring happily along. Size is good and it's adjustable. Much safer for him to still jump where he couldn't really do that with the cone. It's like a stuffed toy so it moves with him. Should be durable enough.
