Cannot find the info on the bottle.** A: In my experience, lanolin will keep for several years unless it's seriously contaminated. The use-by dates for lanolin tend to be one year after opening, but seriously? I think that may be a precautionary note. **Q: Would this work for breastfeeding moms?** A: My wife used it regularly when nursing our 3 kids. Usually once a day, maybe more. She says it reduced the irritation and dry skin. The pure, 100%, is anhydrous and thus very thick and sticky, takes a little rubbing to work into the skin. Some places (maybe not Now Foods) sell a hydrous version with a little water, nothing else, so it's a bit thinner and easier to spread (that's most likely what was in the squeeze container mentioned below as anhydrous would be too thick for a squeeze-tube). After a fairly long time (not sure exactly how long) the anhydrous becomes very thick and difficult to use with a slight change in color, but it still works. **Q: Is this lanolin cleaned in some way, or pasteurized, after being taken from the sheep's wool?** A: I don't see anything on the label indicating that it has been pasteurized. However, I'm sure the manufacturer has used some process to exclude contaminants, since it appears clean in my opinion - no hairs or other visible dirt. My nose is not offended by the mild scent. This brand, specifically. I've tried others, including lansinoh, and this remains my favourite. The price is unbeatable, it's pure, it works. We use it for lanolising wool cloth nappy covers and wool nappy pants. It's amazing for dry skin. I have had an annoying flaky dry skin patch in-between my eyebrows for months now. I tried everything to clear it up, fancy creams and washes, as well as homemade remedies. Literally nothing worked. I finally tried the lanolin on it, it is now significantly better. It is also magic as nappy rash cream. My baby has super sensitive skin that gets dried out very easily, this keeps her skin from getting too dry and rashy. It's also helped with her cradle cap, keeps her head moisturised to where it doesn't come back as much after I manage to get it cleared up. It's also a perfect salve for cuts and scrapes and minor burns. And good for cheeks and lips as a barrier outside in frigid temperatures. I put it around my six year olds nose when he's had a cold and rubbed his skin raw from blowing and wiping too hard. It does smell a bit sheep-y, but I happen to love the smell.
