Describes German Commanders and Uniforms
I bought this, and several others in the series, for my 13-year-old son. He loves history and is especially interested in WWII. I am always a bit cautious/concerned when purchasing war books because of his age. I was particularly concerned about this book (and the others in the series). I did not know what they would say about these war heroes/criminals. I did not want a book that glorified them. Nor did I want a book that desecrated them. What I want is for my son to know that Hitler/the Nazis were horrible and there is no excuse for what happened. Ever. But I also want him to know that not all Germans were Nazis (my mom, his grandmother, grew up in Austria during WWII- her 16-year-old brother was FORCED into serving) and that in war, as in life, war crimes and heroics is a matter of perspective. This book simply lists the different commanders and describes what they did before, during and after the war. There are photos of many of the commanders. There is also a section of illustrations, much like those on the cover, of the various uniforms, etc. This book does not go into wrong or right, good or bad. It is simply a factual accounting of who the German WWII commanders were, and what the uniforms looked like.

Good introduction to subject
As most familiar with the Osprey series will know. This is yet another good introduction of the subject. Color plates are superior to M-A-A No. 124.

Good
Needed to research material, this book filled in many of the gaps necessary. It's very basic but helped in the research.

great
What I really wanted to know was a bout senior SS generals ,of course the victors made all SS military. Blood thirsty. Lunatics and of course there were many of those there were some who believed they were the military elite .fair enough but their reputations were tarnished. I'm not going to say that the SS were innocent. They weren't in truth some Ss units were barbaric and they got what they deservedThe book also had profiles of other German military leaders .you note I did not say NAZIS because many were anti nazi some German officers and seamen were the least influenced by the anti JewishSome admiral refused to dismiss Jewish officers or give the Nazi saluteWhere the air commanders were concerned at least one commanded a landCampaign .some were victims. Of Goering interference and harrasment

un "autre" German Commanders of World War II
Excellentes illustrations très détaillées. Un très bon complément des autres fascicules Osprey parus sur le même thème.En aucun cas il ne s'agit d'un doublon avec Osprey n° 124 Men at Arms Séries illustré par Angus Mc Bride
