How long would these Pilot Precise V5 Black pens last UNUSED? Like, just laying around, would they dry up if I don't use all 12 fast enough?

A very long time. I've been using these pens for about 12 years now. I have an approximately 10-year-old pen (still the old grey design) that's gone strong. Also a box of the newer style (black, like what's in the picture) that are probably 8 years old now. They just keep writing. Keep the cap on 'em and you'll be fine for a decade or more.

I've used these pens since grade school in the 80's. I never have luck on airplanes. I even tried this past time to leave the cap not shut all the way as others say helps. Nope! Ink all over the top. I wonder if it's also type of plane. I'm on both the big 737's from major airports to little puddle jumpers to smaller regional airports during the same trip. Maybe the bigger planes are less of a problem? Wish I knew cause the pens aren't cheap and hate loosing them to explode ink on my plane trips!

Is the ink resistant to chemical solvents? Is this a good choice to use in a wet lab notebook?

No no no. It's my favorite pen in the whole world. Great for notebooks and student lab notebook for inside chem labs and such, but the ink does take time to dry. I think for you needs the ink would smear.

Does it bleed through?

That would depend on the material you are writing on. If it’s tissue paper then yes it would bleed through. They are fine on regular copy paper or anything heavier.

Amazing! Review after almost 2 years of use

These are fine and very precise, and they do not dry out or leak. They are still like day 1 and I love to write with them, it doesnt feel like an effort (as opposed to the pilot G-2 0.5 that dry out after 1 or 2 years)
