Sordine Evans

It does mute the drums, so it does what it's supposed to.
They appear to be just thin neoprene pads, nothing special. The kick drum muting frame works well enough, although the cymbal mutes are a bit 'agricultural'.A bit pricey for what they are, but all in all I don't think you can complain, as they do what they're supposed to ....as long as you expect non-pleasing-to-the-ear thuds and not your drum kit in all it's tonal glory but miraculously quieter. C'mon, you have to be realistic here.Great for practising without stirring up an angry neighbourhood. Which is what I got them for.

Easy Install, Reduces Noise, Not Durable, Over Priced
Happy with SoundOff by Evans, but would not recommend unless you can get it for under $100.Not a bad product, but not great either. It’s pretty basic in my opinion: a collection of felt, rubber, and foam pieces cut to fit your drums and cymbals. In fact, it’s such a basic product that you could probably visit a local hardware and/or crafts store and purchase the materials to cut and glue your way to a similar solution.See pictures.Pros:Noise... it really works to dampen the volume of most of your drum kit. The cymbals are the most affected with most of the sound damped from the high hat and crash/ride cymbals. Next is the smaller toms which at muffled reasonably well. The snare and the base are muffled but the base still has a bit of boom, and the snare is quiet only if the snare is not on.Install... is pretty easy. For the toms and snare you just throw the corresponding foam rubber part on top. For the cymbals it’s the same thing but you do have to snap or fasten them into place. The base drum is the Hardee’s style to fasten but it’s just takes a minute or so to do.Play... is not too bad. You can actual drum fairly well with the kit installed. It is therefore not bad for practice and learning new techniques and music, but the drum rolls are a little harder and I noticed that you get tired sooner due to less drumstick and pedal return.Cons:Smell... there is a noticeable rubber/petroleum smell which can be a little annoying at first but wears off with time or you just get used to it.Fit... the base and cymbals fit well but some of the toms do not. I don’t know what tiny drum kit this was designed for but only the snare fits well. You can see in the pictures what I mean. The smaller tom is so small that it keeps jumping of the head and falling. This sometimes happens with the other tom.Durability... these will probably not last more than a few months. I have played no more than 15 hours on them so far and they are already showing wear on the foam rubber surface. Also, the top layer of the base mute has already fall off so I’m going to have glue it back on (see picture).Price... overall the prices I have seen for this product is way too much at well over $100 CAD. For a fraction of that money and an hour of your time you could make your own mutes that would be pretty well the same thing as this product. This product does work but I would recommend it only for less than $100 CAD.UPDATE from my other purchase...When I first got these I thought they were garbage. Plain stinky foam rubber disks for the drum heads and brass, and a crossbar holder for the bass drum. There was nothing to this product which costs over $100!But when I tried them they worked great! They actually do mute the sound of the drum kit down to a more acceptable left. There is still significant sound, but not deafeningly loud. I estimate over all it’s about a 50-75% reduction, depending on which part of your kit.So they work, but oh do they stink. It was weeks before the rubber smell had lessened but it’s still there. Also, as time passed and I used them I noticed they are not durable. First the foam rubber came away from the crossbar on the base drum. I fixed it a couple of times but eventually removed it and went back to my old method of stuffing pillows in the base.Over time I wore out the snare mute so I swapped it with the one of the toms, and that one wore out too! These are just not durable! I now have three mutes with holes in them so it interferes with my play and I have drum on the edges of the drums head to avoid the holes. What poor quality! I have only had these a few months. In fact I only play ever second day for about an hour, so I estimate there is only about 40-50 hours if use on these.I can’t believe that Evans would put their name on something so poorly engineered. A better solution would have been to have ballistic nylon cover the foam rubber to resist the impact of the drumsticks, but no...THIS PRODUCT IS JUST A BUNCH OF RUBBER DISKS.Save your money. Go to the hardware store. Buy foam rubber in bulk sheets and some duct tape. Cut some disks and cover them with the duct tape. This do it your self set of mutes will do the same thing and last longer. Not recommended at this outrageous price.

Works great, wears down pretty quickly
I dont even hit that hard, and I use nylon tips, but they are developing holes and wore down much quicker than I hoped.
